Could I be pregnant? Is it too early to tell?

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on if its even possible or not for me to be pregnant.

DH and I have been TTC on 23rd I finished my period. On boxing day did the deed. Straight way I felt different. Very sore boobs (only ever get this day before period and even the unusual) and nipples (never had sore nipples before) and certain foods taste different and completely gone off caffeine, which is odd as I'm a caffeine junkie.

I know maybe it just wishful thinking but I've never felt this way before.

Is it too early to tell?
Am I right in thinking that it's unlikely due to the fact I had just finished my period?

I have absolutely no patience and just want to know!

How lon are your cycles normally?

scienceteacher · 03/01/2009 22:17

If you had sex, you could be pregnant.

mrsboogie · 03/01/2009 22:18

It is possible but unlikely - if you are pregnant you are going to have to learn some patience

pollygetthedoctor · 03/01/2009 22:23

My cycles are usually quite long 32-34 days.

LOL Scienceteacher I know that but isn't there less of a chance.

I got pregnant 9 days after my last period had started so about 2 days after it had finished. Sperm can live for up to a week and some ppl ovulate early so no it is possible that u could have concieved.
However, it is quite unlikely that you would be experiencing symptoms so early, altho not impossible, some women do claim to get symptoms straight away.
According to my calculations if u r pregnant then implantation would take place about now so look out for little cramps.
Once implantation takes place you're more likely to get symptoms.
However, try not to drive yourself crazy symptom spotting, I used to do it and I would convince myself that I was pg every month and be testing rediculously early and then u just end up disappointed if you're not.
Funnily enough the month that I ended up bein pg was the month that I was convinced that I wasn't cos thought we'd missed the egg, waited till period was 3 weeks late and I was constantly nauseous before I finally did a test, ppl were even askin if I was pg cos of the nausea and tiredness but I was totally convinced that I wasn't.
Chill out and enjoy the fun bits to TTC, if ur not pg this month u will be soon, there's no mad rush xx

Hunny thanks for your post I did have some cramping yesterday don't usually cramp even with my period but didn't realize that people can feel (cramp) implantation.
Ironically we were thinking of postponing TTC for a few months as timing wise it isn't ideal but we would still be delighted.
Certainly wont be symptom spotting but now the possibility is in my head I cant stop thinking about it, its driving me mad.

Is there any very early pregnancy test I could take?

Is there any chance that the 'period' that you had was implantation bleeding?

BabyBaby123 · 04/01/2009 11:36

if you finished your period on the 23rd, your cycles are long and you had sex on the 26th, imo, it's unlikely your pregnant. Was your last bleed a proper period?

scardypants · 04/01/2009 12:19

hi polly,

I think like scienceteacher said - it's always going to be possible if you've been babydancing.

We'd been TTC for almost 18months. I had become a crazy woman, counting days, spending a fortune on hpts, trying to spot symptoms on cd15, poking my boobs, timing my toilet visits, getting excited when I was constipated (yuk I know!) the list is endless. BDing was no fun, more a task and the acrobatics after the deed just insane - pilow under the bum, handstands on the bed etc.

I wee'd on every stick the chemist had available and still the disappointment came every month. I know how it feels polly, it's horrible. The waiting is torture.

THEN - we stopped. We both agreed it was becoming far too stressful and it was taking over everything. That was 4 months ago. My LMP was the 26th of November, lasted 5 days and we we're BDing on CD8 (with no notions of TTC and no pillows under the bum after). That was the only time that month and on boxing day I discovered I was pg.

I absolutly believe that stress played a huge part in our not conceiving before then.

I guess by telling you my story I'm saying two things: 1) However unlikely, it is still possible you could be pregnant but unfortunately you have to wait. We'll wait with you if you like, It's nice to have people to chat and obsess with especially those who have been on the same rollercoaster.
2)Try to relax a little, it'll happen when you allow your body to be in a natural state, stress is not natural. I know that's easier said than done, I could fill a thousand buckets with the tears I've cried since starting TTC but just try.

I wish you all the best in the world.

Good luck.

brettgirl2 and Baby I'm pretty certain my period was a full proper period and not 'implantation. But I suppose I could be wrong as I've never had implantation bleeding before.

Scardypants thank you for your kind post and congratulations that must have been a nice way to start the new year. We have been trying for about 9 months I suspect I may have POCs but I don't currently have a doctor so this cant be checked out till we move house in about 8 weeks.
Your right TTC is an emotional time which is something I hadn't really prepared myself for.
I haven't tried many other methods or been too obsessive but this time I didn't go to the loo afterwards like I usually do and made sure to stay in bed an extra 30mins and just been a lot more chilled out about it in general, like I said bad timing with moving house so I was quite happy to pause baby making for a bit.
I thinkit's quite possible that my mind and body are playing tricks on me.

i've had an implantation bleed once - it was very little bleeding and was pink. HTH.

pollygetthedoctor · 04/01/2009 20:14

Thanks baby I would say then that I had a proper period.
I think I will test next week if I can hold off that long.

polly

My implantation bleed was exactly like a normal af, for me mine are only 3/4 days anyway.

I didn't realise i was pg untill my next af didn't arrive and by then i was 10 weeks pg.

xxhunnyxx · 04/01/2009 20:59

Hi Polly,

I will second everything that scardypants has said, my situation was very similar, the only difference is my bf actually decided that he didn't want a baby anymore so I was going to go back on the pill the following month, it's just Sod's law that u will always get caught when you're not trying. A few months ago I went to the Doctor's cos I wasn't pregnant after nearly a year of TTC and she also told me her virtually identical story so told me not to try too hard. I also think that the stress of TTC maybe gets in the way, don't know how but it does look that way.
With regards to feeling implantation, not everybody feels it, I did but if u don't feel it then it doesn't mean it's not happening.
I think First Response tests claim to be able to detect pregnancy from about 4 days before your period is due. The only problem is if you do one early and it's negative you'll be left thinking ''well it could be negative because I did it early'' so not really give you a defo answer. IYSWIM?
