Hi ladies,

I'm 10+1 with my first pregnancy and am so eager to find out more about my jelly bean I wondered if any of the 'been there seen it all' mums had noticed a pattern between symptoms and the sex of their babes.

I'm having a very gentle first trimester, apart from knackering fatigue - although I'm still cycling 10k daily so I guess even that can't be too bad. But no puking, very little moodiness, if anything I feel much more jolly than normal, sore and rapidly growing boobs, but not much overall weight gain, and no puking. Although I have had passing waves of nausea - not generally in the morning, and have for the past two weeks been burping up a storm. I mean really, really belching like a good un.
Craving wise I've been after lots of salads and savoury food, was off chocolate for a while, although I did have a huge craving for banana pancakes with syrup - at 6am.
I normally have bad skin, and it went crazy for a while, then cleared up and now looks pretty much the same as ever. Sigh.

So do any of those symptoms sound more like a boy than a girl?
I was thinking boy but I'm not so sure now.

I have had 5 and am pg with no 6 .

With my ds I felt fine a tiny bit of sickness and backache sometimes . Heartburn and craving for coca cola . Not tearful that much just mostly chilled out.

With the 5 girls (this one is a girl too) loads of sickness cravings for salad and milk and tearful all the time .

I found out the sex of this one at 17 weeks so you may only have to wait 6 /7 weeks to find out .

Good luck and congratulations.

sorry there is no way at all to tell!

with DS1 i had 1 day of sickness, was a high up bump, no aches or pains, only put on a few extra lbs, easy labour (didn't know he was a boy until he was born)

DS2 i had horrendous morning sickness until about 6 months, heartburn, aches from the start, a very fast and furious labour, put on about 4 stone
(knew he was a boy)

DS3 i had what i call normal sickness (ie it lasted until 14 ish weeks), lots of early niggles (big ones), i had anterior placenta that they told me at 20 weeks was grade 4 praevia (ie wouldn't move), i ate like a horse and the weight gain shifted my placenta enough (a miracle in their words!!) i developed cholestasis and very very bad heartburn (knew at 34 weeks that he was a boy)

so each one very very different

Everyone is different, I think in general girls are supposed to make u more sick than boys but my friend has 2 girls and wasn't sick once with either of them.

I've heard that cravings are supposed to indicate whether you are having a boy or girl, sweet things for girls, savoury for a boy. I doubt there's much truth in it but it's a bit of fun x

Poppet45 · 01/01/2009 15:24

Wow very different indeed. They certainly like to keep you guessing...

... and belching, who knew soup and a sandwich could be so offensive?

Or is the belching just me?

ComeWhineWithMe · 01/01/2009 15:28

Nah I am always belching .

Poppet45 · 01/01/2009 15:30

Seriously I feel like Barney Gumble.

DH is being lovely though, keeps saying 'bless you' as if I'm sneezing delicately in a ladylike fashion and actually not emitting foul clouds of pestilence in his direction.

Yeah I belch more, and shhh don't tell anyone but I pass more wind too...why? I have no idea!

Poppet45 · 01/01/2009 15:54

No wind here.... yet.... it never gets the chance to get sufficiently far south. How many weeks are you?

13+3. Had wind for weeks tho, it might be due to my change in diet tho. However bf seems to reckon it was just as bad pre-pregnancy tho lol
