Have taken the plunge, hope this is acceptable to everybody.

Yeah mrsb but the only thing that concerns me is how totally motivated you have to be to do it every day - or 3 times a week. How many people have the Rosemary Conley video in their loft that only been in the recorder twice?

Been and splashed some cash today. After much umming and ahhing for weeks, DH and myself have finally settled on a new light fitting for the kitchen/diner. It's nice so I've ordered it. It's here if anyone is interested. Soooooooo (JJ are you paying attention? ) while I was there thought I may as well order the egyptian cotton duvet set I'd been eyeing for ages! Bad JW indeed. Well it's xmas to myself

hedgepig · 02/01/2009 19:23

overseasmum what happens if there is a medical emergency while the Drs are resting?

I have a davina DVD, it was OK but my lounge isn't so big and I kept falling over the sofa. before I got pg with Ollie I was running, i didn't loose any weight but I felt much better for it. I'm going to start again when it gets a bit wamer

JW , MrsB do you fancy doing a little weight in once a week on this thread? do you think it would help us be inspired? I have never actually done a diet before, I just let my clothes get bigger and bigger.

Tee2072 · 02/01/2009 19:27

JW I love that! And you so deserve that duvet set!

I have a couple of yoga and some low impact aerobics that I was doing before I was pregnant. I am going to be ordering a pregnancy yoga one next week. I really like yoga.

hedgepig · 02/01/2009 19:29

splendid JW does it pull up and down like the one my mom and dad had in the 70s???? I can imagine K will have great fun with it when she is older

can anyone help me with what Oliver is up too? he keeps mitering for a bottle every hr to hr and a half, then he has 1-2 oz falls asleep briefly then starts moaning again but isn't interested in the rest of his bottle?? answers on a postcard to Hedgepig Towers

johnworf · 02/01/2009 19:53

hedgepig yep it does rise and fall (up and down) so the LO's can swing off it!

Oh Oliver is a naughty little boy isn't he? If it's any consolation K has done the same but has now thankfully grown out of it (for now?) I went down to making 2oz bottles as I was throwing away lots of milk and she was having about 8-9 a day! Big faff but there you go. I think mrsb had the same with D.

K had 1/4 banana rusk today with milk. Loved it!

hedgepig · 02/01/2009 20:09

real food how lovely for her.
Thanks, that reassuring it's not just him, I don't think he is ill or anything just in a strange mood, maybe I I'll make some 2oz bottles up & give it a go, it seems such a waste of milk.

mrsboogie · 02/01/2009 20:16

Yes I have had the same with D hedgepig and continue to do so every few days. It seems like he doesn't lets himself get hungry enough for a full feed so has dribs and drabs and messes up his appetite. After a day or so of this he goes back to normal feeding patterns. It's been happening on and off for a while. So long as he continues to feed regularly I don't get worried about it. Had to do what jw did and start making smaller bottles as most was going down the sink.

Yep a weekly weigh in would be good - I take it you mean in terms of weight lost rather than what we actually weigh? Couldn't be writing that down

Pregnancy yoga is a great idea tee

Love the light fitting jw . V cool.

ermintrude13 · 02/01/2009 20:44

Us pregnant ladies could do a weekly weigh-in too, and make the dieters feel even better, as we go up up up and they go dooooown

Tee2072 · 02/01/2009 20:47

Good idea, ermintrude!!

hedgepig · 02/01/2009 20:48

Erminturde LOL I have this vision of an old fashioned pair of scales with the lovely PG ladies weighing down one side as we non-pg ladies wizz up in the air!

johnworf · 02/01/2009 21:33

hedgepig I like that mental image too although with me sat in the pan with the non pg ladies I think it'll hit the floor(like when your dad got on the seesaw with you when you were small). Booooiiiiing! Like a catapult

I'm up for a weigh in. Do we have to reveal our starting weights or just how much we've lost? I'd rather the latter as I'm a fat oaf and I think the gasps from you ladies will make me feel self conscious

hellymelly · 02/01/2009 21:41

Mayblossom asking for positive tales of older motherhood-I had dd1 the week I turned 41 and dd2 at 43,very easy to conceive them even though I was bf when I tried for dd2.I had PE at the very end with my first but no problems with my second other than ending up with another c-section.Would an elective c-section with an epidural not be the safest option for you? I say have another! I am weighing up trying for a third but wavering due to the fact dd2 hardly sleeps and I am worn out.

hedgepig · 02/01/2009 22:30

I'm quite happy to reveal my stating weight (when I find the scales) but if the consensus is not to then I'm happy with that too. I just think it will give us a better sense of achievement at the end. Right I'm off to scoff the last of the Thorntons before I start this diet

johnworf · 02/01/2009 23:11

hahahahaha! Mine are all gone........onto my waist

jeanjeannie · 03/01/2009 10:09

Morning all. Well, I was going to sit down with my laptop last night and watch a bit of telly - when young friends turned up from across the road! Yes, this lovely couple (only just 30) came over with a couple of bottles of red wine and talk of the outside world....marvellous!! Even better - they're cooking a huge selection of curry dishes on Weds eve and bringing them over - all we're doing is providing the wine and chairs!

jw LOVE the kitchen light - that's my kind of appliance! i now have light envy

Mumoverseas Woah! I'm all for living in wild places but that whole Ramadam thing would throw me completely! My friend in Dubai goes off to the toilet at work and nibbles on a sandwich in a paper bag Although she gets most annoyed that she can't get her skinny latte from Starbucks till after dark! Still, at least the hospitals are good and clean!

hedgepig sounds to be as though you've got a growth spurt on your hands! Oliver's growth that is....not yours

Still waiting for Verity to do a poo....it's been 2 days and she's eaten for England. I've even given her a prune in her mashed apple....MMMmmmm.

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 03/01/2009 10:27

Helloooo and Happy New Year All!
I was just going to post so I can find you all...intrigued to see you are all going on the new years resolution diet...can I join please? Since Christmas I have been saying I'll start on Monday 5th (as we will have seen our visitors from the USA back off home by then).By this time last year I had lost Alexs pregnancy weight but was still carrying 3 stones of ttc/mc weight...kept saying I'd get rid of it but it was still with me by Alexs birthday in September and I havent been near the scales for 3 months...(I'll need to by new batteries for them)...but I really have to do something; I cant get up off the floor with Alex in my arms anymore ...(have to say I second JW with the just posting losses thing...as I am a heiffer of the most gargantuan proportions )

Tee2072 · 03/01/2009 10:33

Good morning, ladies.

Well, slept really badly, then fell totally asleep at about 5:30 and didn't stir until 9:00! If pregnancy is good for one thing, its curing insomnia! Sort of...

Sent DH off for a haircut. You know its been too long when your MIL comments on her son's long hair. And he never does anything wrong in her eyes! Also sent him to do the grocery shop. I'm sitting around and eating bonbons today...

Floriainexcelsisdeo where from the States are your visitors? I'm an American expat in Belfast, so always interested in compatriots!

johnworf · 03/01/2009 10:40

Ah crap, lost all of my post! JJ can't you just give Verity some of the kind neighbours curry?! Problem solved.

Thanks for thumbs up on the light fitting. Just need to get electrician round to fit it. He's the one who suggested a rise and fall in the first place btw, as he thought it'd fit in with the new kitchen.

Shocking news re John Travolta's son. So young too.

Gah! Watched the opening of CBB and omg what can I say? Coolio and Ulrika? (she'll be humping him by Sunday). The glaswegian hard nut and the glam model? It's text book freak show.

Floria of course you can join our fat gits club weight loss incentive! More the merrier.

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 03/01/2009 12:58

Tee My bf is actually a Glaswegian who moved to NYNY 10 yrs ago and married a guy from Albany, they are in the opera business so have settled in NY...(as a rather spooky coincidence I married a Brit who grew up in Albany, went to the same school and lived about 800yds from her Dh)...we last saw them at their wedding in Albany 3.5 yrs ago and it has been wonderful to see them and catch up but as her Dh is the US equivalent of the son of Gordon Ramsay it has been somewhat of a gastronomic extravaganza...utterly wonderful but I'm actually looking forward to dieting

JW..an extra thumbs up on your light fitting..wish we had seen it when we renewed ours before Christmas Thanks for letting me join the flab-loss party..are we going to have a regular celebration/commisseration day of the week?

mrsboogie · 03/01/2009 13:15

welcome to fatfighters anonymous floria the more the better! I am also starting on Monday 5th as I have some Thorntons to get through and various other bits that will add a few extra pounds that will have to be removed next week

tee I suffered from insomnia for about six years before I got pg. Not a whiff of it now mind you - you are so right about pg (or the after effects) curing it! Mr D has of late been waking at 1am, 4am and 6am and I am knackered.

JW I don't get that sense form Ulrika - to me she seemed quite worn out and aged - probably from the pain of whatever it is that ails her back/leg whatever.

But OMG - Latoyah's nose - I hate it when they do that nose-job thing with the forward-facing nostrils. it's gross. Nostrils should face downwards. They look like an alien species - every time I see her I think of star trek.

Speaking of Sci-fi - we get to find out who the next Dr Who is today - according to the DM its that hunky black chap from Casualty That would work for me!

ermintrude13 · 03/01/2009 13:21

Floria, I read that as your boyfriend had moved to NY and married a guy from Albany. I thought you were going to explain why he'd made a dramatic change in terms of sexual preference.... But now I understand. Hope HER husband is only like G Ramsay in terms of culinary ability!

JW that light is super - and far too stylish and modern for our kitchen.

JJ hope Verity's bowels move soon, and not too dramatically. We still talk about my heavily-constipated 4 month old niece having her nappy changed on her mat on our kitchen table and doing the most tremendous projectile bright yellow poo that arced right up in the air and reached the door 5 foot away

johnworf · 03/01/2009 14:25

Woah ermintrude that's impressive..I think

Oh yeah mrsb saw the nose and thought you'd be thinking much the same as I was thinking. It looks as though it's been modelled out of playdoh...by a child. And stuck on her face!

mumoverseas · 03/01/2009 14:43

mrsb, wow, you really do have an age gap! I thought my age gap was huge. I know what you mean about people querying the age gap. 'was it an accident' has come up more than once! (yes it was by the way!)

hedgepig, hadn't really thought about the accident bit when doctors sleeping but I'd hope that there would be someone on duty at least in the A & E department. (note to self, try not to get sick during ramadam just in case)

jeanjeannie, your friend in Dubai sounds just like mine, she is always sneaking around doing what she shouldn't and she threw a wobbly last year when she couldn't have popcorn when she was in the cinema during ramadam. (until I pointed out that at least she has a cinema as the nearest one to us is a 4 hour drive to the next country!) Think I'd love to live in Dubai but like DH and I say, if we can live in Saudi, we can cope with anything.

Right, off to waddle up for a bath and bed (we are 3 hours ahead) did more walking today than I have in the last month and the SPD is playing up so I'm walking like John Wayne.

BonzoDoodah · 03/01/2009 14:46

Hi all - thought I'd waddle into the chat. I'm 40 and expecting No2 in July. Definately of the slummy Mummy category at the moment - as the tiredness and morning sickness are taking their toll.

jw - get the wifit - it's super! I'm addicted to downhill skiing and ski-jumping. Not that I'm competitive and need to beat my sister's score or anything nonononononono!

mrsboogie · 03/01/2009 15:09

hello bonzodoodah and congrats!

I really must get into the wii fit - its just I can't bear it telling me my weight and therefore I have to pretend to be OH when using it and he gets all my scores IYSWIM.
