johnworf · 07/01/2009 18:26

mrsb not if you sit on your arse watching Jezza kyle, half-heartedly running the hoover back and forth from where you're sat and eating a packet of jammy dodgers....not that I'd ever do that

Wow. The back of JJ's sofa is the place to be!

jeanjeannie · 07/01/2009 18:51

Well, sadly the back of my sofa did not reap the financial rewards I was hoping for

Off now to make the pilau rice for our curry from across the road. OK - so I'm armed with BBC website recipe from the Indian Made Easy series....MMMmmm, I'll be the judge of that. Ar*e I don't think I've got any almonds....

mrsboogie · 07/01/2009 19:39

pine nuts?

jeanjeannie · 07/01/2009 19:41

Aye mrsB they'll have to do! DOn't tell them folks in kashmir that I've fiddled with their sacred recipe...Noooo sireeee...don't want no kashmir rebels knocking on my door looking for a fight over nuts

mrsboogie · 07/01/2009 19:46

aye, especially since they're not even even nuts!

Tee2072 · 07/01/2009 19:53

If anyone wants to see my big fat can't believe I'm only 16 weeks with this bump belly (and the rest of me in all my pink pajama glory) they can go here: Tee's Blog

ermintrude13 · 07/01/2009 20:04

Ee, that's a goodly belly, Tee! I too need new pjs - or may go for long stretchy jersey nighties and be done with trousers entirely at night time.

V pleased with shopping trip today: bought a really cute knee-length party dress - turquoise satin with black lace overdress - for friends' wedding weekend after next - in Red Herring sale in Debenhams, plus Faith strappy sandals and a Debut fine wool pashmina - all for £45! DS said 'You can see more than half of your bosoms!' I explained that a girl has to play to her strengths . DD loved the whole outfit and asked if she can have it when I'm dead .

JJ I bet the rice is delish. Nuts to authenticity!

FloriaTosca · 07/01/2009 20:18

started this this morning but A has been more than a little demanding today(rotten cold/ teething and mummy back at work so not at his beck and call) I'll post it now and then catch up...

JJ glad the girls are not too bad. A is the same, and like V just wants boobies.

MrsB Glad you have come to a compromise you are happy with re. child care

Thanks everyone for the sympathy on the no more babies front MrsB I wish Dh was secretly wanting another...sadly he is hiding it from me very well if that is the case...it has taken him a very long time to start enjoying A and not just seeing him as a huge responsibility. If we won the lottery and could afford ivf with pid perhaps I'd have half a chance

Well I got on the full batteried scales and OMG!Last year I got back to pre A weight within 4 weeks ( having said that I was more than 3 st over weight when I got pg)...I am now 10lb heavier! BMI 37! Deep sigh....OK..depression over..if I lose it at about half a stone a month I'll be a happyish bunny by August...only good point is that I'm spot on the most dreadful stones so will be in the next stones down next week .

MrsB - xx stone 6 lbs
Hedgepig - xx stone 1 lbs
Lilibet - xx stone 10.5lb
JW - XX stone 12lbs
Floria - XXX stone 0lbs
JJ - XX stone 2lbs

Tee2072 · 07/01/2009 20:21

Thanks ermintrude. I really do need some new PJs!!

at DD wanting when you're dead. Maybe she can have it when you're still alive, but no longer pregnant? And what a bargain!

hedgepig · 07/01/2009 20:31

housework burns calories, that explains why I'm so fat cuddly, because my house is a tip [slovenly smiley].

johnworf · 07/01/2009 20:37

Hey I just hula-ed . I'm very imprssed with myself for getting the hang of it. This Wii Fit stuff is very addictive for the saddo that is myself. I wonder if it's called a wii after us ladies that have had babies and a bit of wii comes out when you go on it too fast - hahahahahaha. joking!

Ok, I bought a nice butternut squash y'day. Anyone got any interesting recipes/ideas for it? I could look one up but often people make their own up which are usually quite original and interesting.

Floria dear don't despair. Half a stone a month sounds like a healthy weight loss to me. August isn't far away either. PMA!

johnworf · 07/01/2009 20:39

Tsk tsk hedgpieg. You're being far too hard on yourself.

Actually I should by rights be a size zero if that's the case. I love cleaning (really, I do). Very therapeutic.

Tee2072 · 07/01/2009 20:41

JW I just like to put some butter and sugar in the middle and bake it. Very yummy!

hedgepig · 07/01/2009 20:55

I make soup with butternut squash, fry a bit of onion, the squash, a spud maybe some carrots. Bubble up in stock and then wizz through a blender yummm. In the old days a dollop of cream would be popped in at the end but no longer I am a reformed character

I got O weighed today (he was 3 months on Monday) 10lb 4oz he is starting to look pretty chunky. I'm going to try and put a picture on, could take a while

ermintrude13 · 07/01/2009 21:09

A friend made butternut squash risotto - with a bit of creme fraiche and I think a soupcon (where are the cidillas on here?!) of paprika or chilli or something to give it some oomph.

Nice baked, as Tee suggests - sugar! Tut! - you can do it with savoury seasoning of course.

Or it's good as the base for a veggie Thai red curry, using curry paste and a tin of coconut milk and whatever other veg you want to chuck in (peas, bamboo shoots, red peppers etc)

Very soon you will be boiling it and pureeing it for Katherine!

johnworf · 07/01/2009 21:21

ermintrude I've just done a big batch of sweet potato, carrot and potatoes and frozen them for K so the squash is for us!

Baked sounds good but I'll pass on the sugar methinks Not a big sugar fan anyway. Now risotto is something I wouldn't have thought of. OOOh new things to try.

I had a baked sweet potato tonight and that was nice. Not sure if you can eat the skins though as they're a bit rugged and rough.

hedgepig Oliver is piling the weight on! Wow. Can't wait to see how he's grown No idea what K weighs since my MW stopped her visits. Will find out on Monday when she is weighed before her jab.

tee saw the belly shots. It's coming along nicely

hedgepig · 07/01/2009 21:32

new photos are uploaded.

mrsboogie · 07/01/2009 22:01

awww he looks spiffing hedgepig and older than 3 months I love his stripy top!
you've made me want to put one of D on now. D hasn't been weighed since he was 8 weeks - is that bad?

tee you have just brought back memories of me last summer - I spent all of my maternity leave in various pairs of very similar pjs to yours!

Floria I feel your pain on the BMI front but it will be a nice psychological boost when you are 1 stones down next week. Oh and did you see the woman on the DM website who won the Rosemary Conley slimmer of the year - after losing ten stones! looks fab now.

jw I eat the skins on sweet potatoes when I make wedges out of them. Never done me any harm.

mumoverseas · 08/01/2009 06:48

morning all, not been on here for a few days and its taken me ages to catch up.
Think I'll have to join the diet club once i work out what I am in good old stones and lbs, at the hospital they keep giving me it in kilos which doesn't really mean anything to me. I do know however I'm fat as all over my pregnancy notes it has warnings about my high risk pregnancy due to weight (BMI 30!) age and various other health problems.
On the bright side, saw my consultant yesterday who gave us a date for my CS, 8th February when I'll be 37 weeks. So pleased little one is coming early as its hard to walk at the moment due to SPD.

Duchese, I agree with the other ladies ref CVS risk, 10% just CAN'T be right, 1% is more realistic.
I'm now 41 (33 weeks pg) and was 40 when I found out I was pg. Was offered various tests which was quite a big decision as hadn't had all this with my previous 3 DC's. In the end opted for just the nuchal scan (in my local hospital they don't do the blood test with it) at the start I was a 1:67 of downs but after the nuchal they changed this to 1:1107 on the basis of the thickness of the fluid and also that they saw nasal bones. Decided against further tests (ie amnio cvs) due to the risk of mc as we'd already had one mc a few years ago. It is all very daunting and hope that all goes well for you

Tee2072 · 08/01/2009 07:46

Morning ladies!

My mum, being my mum, looked at the pictures from yesterday and said 'well, I guess no one sees you in those PJs except Simon, so they are sort of all right.' I decided not to point out that now the whole internet can see me in the as well.

hedgepig he's gorgeous! So's your other one! And, interesting, you look almost exactly the why I imagined you'd look. Strange how that works sometimes.

lilibet · 08/01/2009 08:42

Good Morning one and all

Lovely photo's of OJ - he really is gorgeous.

Tee - you're looking good!! And I love the shelves - I have shelves like that, very full!!

My BMI is also just bubbling under obese, so last night I hula'd and ski'd and ran!!!

What extra games have you lot unlocked?

I have a Davina dvd but it's her first one when she wasn't quite the dominatrix that she seems to be now. Last time I tried to do it I nearly died. No way Jose!

My lovely dd who works for Estee Lauder is giving up the day job and going to Uni!! She is doing a business maangement degree because after two years in the big wide world of work she was discovered that a degree opens an awful lot of doors. She is getting back her part time job at McD's which she had when she was at college, so that she can keep her car and her social life going.

I'm very pleased for her but it does mean that her rent will stop. I always said to her that as long as she was in full time education I didn't wnat any rent, which was fine when she was 16 - 18 and I was getting chld benefit, working family tax creit and maintenace for her and when she started work her rent just replaced the incomings that we had lost. She doesn't pay a great deal but come summer I'm going to miss that money .

johnworf · 08/01/2009 09:02

hedgepig lovely pics! Young Oliver is really coming along and what a big boy! Is it me or does he bear a striking resemblance to his big brother?? I totally agree with him looking older and in the first (top) pic he looks like he's pondering Fermat's Theorem (yes, yes, I know it's been solved before you shoot me down!)

lilibet you sound like most of on here re the weight/BMI. Very impressed with all 3 activities you did last night! Mental note to self: must try harder.

Good/bad news about your DD. I know the money is handy but it's a temporary state of affairs (well 2 years isn't that long in the grand scheme of things) and education is well worth having. Unless you are me of course as I've never used my degree

Has anyone seen this justice minister in France who...wait for it....had a section on Friday, went home on Tuesday and was back at work on Wednesday????????? Is she f**king nuts or what???? And who has the baby??!! Bad in my books. That baby needs her and she must need the rest after an operation like that. It'll all end in tears believe me.

mumoverseas now you have a date at least you can start working towards it and be organised for the birth. So much better than waiting for it to happen

Will henceforth eat sweet potato skins in the knowledge I'll live

lilibet · 08/01/2009 09:17

JW - I heard that thsi morning. Silly cow! , you would be stupid going back to work 5 days after any big operation, but what about that poor child?

The sort that gives women a bad name.

DD is going to Uni for 4 years!! She's been working for two. I'd rather that she did it while she is still young tho' rather than be like me, job, house, children and OU!

lilibet · 08/01/2009 09:20

I've jsut looked at her on the DM website - bloody hell she looks good - and she's 43!!

She could join us!!

FloriaTosca · 08/01/2009 09:22

JW I usually just roast butternut squash. If I want to something a bit different with it I add a couple of tbspns of pumpkin seeds a light dusting of chilli flakes roast them in a little olive oil (fry light now)for about 40 mins and then mix 2tbspns of maple syrup (not so good on a diet)with 1tbspn of dijon mustard and coat them for the last 10 mins or so.

OMG!..I want a Wii fit!...a relation has just txtd me, he started his diet/Wii fitness regime on Monday (doing 40 mins before work)and this morning it says he has lost 8lb already!!!!!
