25 weeks & blood after sex. Is this okay?

A little TMI, but I'm really scared, so... Just had sex, but found blood afterwards. Not loads, but enough to drip onto the sheet a little & still wipe onto toilet roll, etc. That's unlikely to be pregnancy related, isn't it? Especially at 25 weeks, I'd have thought? & I'm sure it's happened once or twice before I got pregnant, but now I'm freaking out a bit. & sex always sends the bump to sleep, so I'm drinking cold water & jumping around trying to make him move - but as yet, nothing. Which doesn't help. I know that I'm probably panicking over nothing, but I want to know if I should go to the hospital or something just in case? Or do you think it's okay?

It's probably nothing, but please get it checked out ASAP

It is probably something called a cervical erosion - quite common in pregnancy and harmless - just caused by the penis rubbing against the cervix which has changed due to the pg hormones. Don't panic. If you have no other symptoms and the bleeding was only shortlived I wouldn't worry at all - just mention it to your mw for reassurance.

I had this a couple of time, the midwives say it is VERY common and nothing to worry about.

But if you are worried give the hospital or doctors a ring, I'm sure they'd be happy to see you and let you hear bubs heartbeat

They first of all checked the heartbeat which was good & strong, then they checked my blood pressure, pulse & temperature. My pulse was 109, which I think was just down to the worry, but everything else was okay. Then I had to wait hours for a doctor, who eventually came & put a speculum up me & shone a huuuuge light up my fanjo & took a swab as well.

She said that my cervix is inflamed, but there's no active bleeding. The swab will be sent away, but because of New Year & all, it'll probably be a little while until I get the results.

Thanks for the advice

glad you got seen.

You may have a cervical ectropion, think that's how you spell it. I had this. It's basically where some of the tissue that normally grows inside the uterus grows on the cervix too, this sort of tissue can easily bleed, hence the post coital bleeding. Nothing to worry about.

Hope you feel reassured.
