First baby not enough amniotic fluid

Sil is due in one week, has been told today she'll have to be induced before Friday as there is not enough amniotic fluid. Anyone with some experience to share about induction before full term? It is her first pregnancy. I never had to be induced myself and know very little on the subject to reassure her.

if she is due in a week anyway why do they want to induce?

What she tell me is that there is not or very little amniotic fluid and that is the reason they gave her. I suppose it is considered not too good for her baby (baby is fine at the moment BTW)
