I got the capsule wardrobe from picchu here. I wasn't intending to spend much on maternity clothes since you don't wear them for long but then I got diagnosed with GD, and got so fed up of my monkish diet (even over christmas - sob) that I thought I'd treat myself. I have to say the wrap dress and trousers are the best clothes I've ever had, pregnant or not. The other stuff is nice too but I'd recommend just getting their dress and trousers offer. Comfy and look really nice and hopefully I'll be able to wear them once the baby's born (the dress anyway).

MsG · 23/12/2008 16:14

Thanks SparkyMalarky - will do that. Where did you get yours from?

LoveActually · 23/12/2008 17:54

I bought a tunic, grace coat and wrap dress from Isabella Oliver, at a 20 per cent discount. I have worn these items along with IO leggings since 6 months pg. My Top Shop skinny jeans were great too.
For knickers I bought large M&S ones in a size bigger than I usually wear, they've lasted brilliantly (am 38 weeks now).

Bennetton - really great soft cotton stretch dress. What I love about it is there's no big waist band to dig into your belly and annoy you, it's so loose and comfy.

Seeline · 23/12/2008 17:58

Really sad I know, but the thing that I got most wear out of during 2 pgs and wwas most comfortable in were my trusty denim dungarees - I could wear them with anything!

Umlellala · 23/12/2008 18:12

Ohhhh I really really wanted dungarees

I'm not even preg anymore and still wear my black jersey trousers from Next!

Mumof2Pregwithtwins · 23/12/2008 18:24

Plantsitter - what size are you usually? Did you find the sizes big or small from the capsule wardrobe. I'm about a size 14 normally, just wondering whether it's worth getting a size bigger though.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I feel a bit more inspired now rather than feeling that all maternity clothes are grim. Will definitely check out the Next jeans and trousers.

From 4-about 7 & a 1/2 months , I loved my Isabella Oliver wrap tops with Top Shop skinny jeans. When I got too big for those, I loved stretchy black yoga pants ('jersey' pants) or extra long maternity leggings from M&S with tops from H&M - cheap enough that I didn't mind shelling out for a few that I wouldn't wear for longer than a month or two, but not too grim looking!

LoveActually · 23/12/2008 18:29

Mumof2, go for things your normal size, although saying that I ended up getting a size smaller in Next and Isabelle Oliver. Because I manage a team and work(ed) in the city I shelled out for expensive stuff but it was worth it. x

dinny · 23/12/2008 18:31

don't think you need maternity swimsuit if you have a two piece to begin with, btw

I wear my Seraphine jeans LOADS

plantsitter · 23/12/2008 18:45

Would get your normal size - I'm usually 16/18 so got the size 4 to be sure and it's a bit big if anything (though I have lost weight off various bits due to my monk's diet). In any case they are all made of some kind of amazing flattering material that both stretches and drapes so I wouldn't go too big.

I have just got some codes for www.yummymummymaternity.co.uk who are my local maternity shop. I lived in the Tete A Tete Maternity Jeans, (over the bump style) but they do under as well. The newsletter says that codes can only be used once per person and only one at a time, but I have also passed onto a friend so I know that they work...
N5 - get a £5 off anything, no minimum spend.
CA10 get a £10 off anything over £30.
DC10 get 10% off
PS they also have a sale on, and the codes seem to work on sale stuff too. They also stock Anita Underwired Maternity Bras, which again I lived in... Hope this helps.

My friends lent me a pair of elasticated black Crave trousers with a big band around the top and they are lush and the most comfortable pair of trousers i have ever worn !

TWINSETinapeartree · 23/12/2008 19:43

Formes swimming costume cost be £79 but I looked hot in it, for me to look hot in a swimming costune at any time is quite a miracle but to do it when pregnant is worth its weight in gold.

Our apartment block at the time had a pool so I swum every day so the costume was well used, I actually had 2 costumes from Formes but the black halter neck one was tres fabulous. I also went on holiday when pregant again so lots of fabulous pictures of me in my costume.

Hennes black maternity t shirt
Next jeans (the comfiest ever, and short enough for my stumpy legs)
Blooming Marvellous swimsuit
Dorothy Perkins combats
A pair of braces (to hold up the less than brilliant maternity trousers when the elastic went!)

Mumof2Pregwithtwins · 24/12/2008 10:16

Thanks for the codes LexisM. I will give them a go! Have a very happy Christmas everyone.

I've lived in my Next jeans and Next wide-leg black trousers throughout the pregnancy (now 34 weeks).

Best buy was the black Isabella Oliver wrap column dress - £130 after discount - but I wore it to a wedding and Christmas party, and have never had so many compliments.

Worth every penny to feel so fabulous while pregnant!

MrsMcClaus · 28/12/2008 20:36

Currently loving my Jojomamanbebe knee length fleece jacket, so comfy and so useful

Bicnod · 28/12/2008 20:54

Bump band - definitely. Still wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans and tops with bump band to fill the gap

I got mine from amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0010XC4PK

Bicnod · 28/12/2008 20:56

Sorry - www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0010XC4PK

Pannacotta · 28/12/2008 21:00

Seraphine jeans and all the Isabella Oliver things I bought, esp the plum wrap dress with ruffle hem, that was really gorgeous!
