Very unexpected, actually did a test last Saturday to rule it out as i was fed up with my period stop-starting! According to the Clearblue digital test, its 3+ weeks since conception. Since then (and pre taking the test, hence me keep thinking my period was about to start!), i've been having what i would describe as 'old' blood spotting (brownish in colour, quite stringy consistency, certainly not like fresh blood!), no pain or cramping or anything. I'm not due to see my GP until after christmas. Should i be worried? (i just don't feel like i can be excited yet until i know that everything's ok)

Thanks

I had no bleeding with my first pregnancy and yet I had the same 'old' bleeding for the first 16 weeks with my second pregnancy. Both pregnancies resulted in healthy babies.

I have read that it is the bright red blood which should be checked out straight away.

Either way if you are worried, there is NHS direct or your local maternity unit which you can ring for advice now if you wish.

All the best.

Thank you for responding. It's been quite a while since i had my son, and i've never experienced anything like this before. It doesn't help that i've just had a nasty bout of suspected food poisoning, so everything in that area still feels a little unsettled. I guess time will tell.

I did worry and I cried with relief that everything was fine at my 12 week scan.

Hope things go very smoothly for your July (?) 09 baby
