Boys arrive early and girls arrive late?

Just out of curiosity.....Someone recently told me that their midwife told them that boys tend to arrive early and girls late. Her reason for this was that girls need the extra time to make themselves pretty before they show their face to the world!! This person also said that for everyone that she knows that has given birth recently, this has been proven to be the case.... While I know I can't absolutely rely on this being true, just wondering for how many of you with previous babies this was the case?

Making me laugh this! There just seem any pattern at all. I was in fact wondering myself if the exact opposite is true because I know several people who had girls on time/early, and boys much later. My dd1 was on time so was expecting no2 to be as well... now 4 days overdue, and I was starting to wonder if maybe it's a boy, as it is late....... but I think when you are knackered and have baby brain at this late stage in pg, you can convince yourself of anything.......

My DD1 was 10 dats late; DD2 was a week early!

purpleduckUnderTheMistletoe · 20/12/2008 15:01

was true for me
ds - i day early

dd - 8 days late.

DD STILL gets worried about going new places on her own...I wonder if that was why?

blametheparents · 20/12/2008 15:10

My DD was earlier than my DS.
Utter rubbish

cravingchocolate · 20/12/2008 15:10

DD1 3 weeks early
DD2 2 days late
DD3 due date

Well thank you all... this has confirmed my suspicions that it is a pile of nonsense. The MW is from another country, by the way, so thankfully not employed by the NHS.

Looks like I'll have to just accept what everybody annoyingly tells us that "they'll come when they're ready, dear" however early or late that might be.

Sorkycake , don't worry about the hijack... you've given a good tip there.... if I'm bored of waiting for baby to arrive, I'll maybe just start moving some furniture around and see if it works for me too....

DS - 12 days late

I'm sure boys are usually late. Start as they mean to go on

RustyBear · 20/12/2008 19:32

I have one of each and they were both 6 days late.

icantdoit · 20/12/2008 19:39

nope - ds1 - on due date
ds2 - 2 days early
DD - 3 weeks + 1 early

Get another theory

ladytophamhatt · 20/12/2008 19:44
