breech baby with tiny head...

Having been told by the sonographer, not to worry, I am doing exactly that! I had a growth scan last week at 28 weeks. The baby is currently breech, and due to this the sonographer was unable to get an accurate biparietal diameter measurement (this also happened at 20 week scan). So, the baby's head is way off the scale on the chart. Has anyone else encountered this? I am trying so hard not to worry that my baby has an abnormally small head, but I just can't seem to forget about it.

If the sonographer has told you that your baby was not in the best position for him/her to make accurate measurements then the measurements he/she did take will be wrong. If you have another scan, the baby may be in a different position so may be measured correctly then. It is difficult to measure a baby as they move about alot.

I'm sure babys got a perfectly normal sized head

I had a scan at 30 weeks with Dd and she was so deeply engaged they couldnt measure her head atall and her head is fine

Hi there,

I had a growth scan today and was told that the head was small ( On zero centile) so have to go back in another 2 weeks (I am 29 weeks). It is worrying sin't it?! but I am not sure what the implications are.....if any?

Sophie2, is your baby breech too? Hopefully you have a similar problem to me, that the baby is in an tricky position and that in two weeks everything will be fine. I think the worst thing about being pregnant is the fear of the unknown. I just want to fast forward a couple of months and have my healthy baby safe and sound in my arms

mine's breech but it's head is measuring big rather than small! It's hard for them to get accurate measurements - I'm not stressing with this pregnancy like I was with the others - if everything is strucularly normal then I'm sure it's fine.
