Glucose Tolerance - can I still have Gaviscon?

I have my GTT test in the morning and have been told to fast from 10pm tonight - clear fluids only. I know Gaviscon isn't clear but as it's medicinal I wondered if it was an exception? I'm suffering dreadfuly with indigestion and the thought of not being able to have the odd swig in the night is upsetting me more than not being able to eat!

Any thoughts?

I would imagine you can't have it. I was told water and nothing but. I'm sure that vile stuff Gaviscon will have some sugar in it.

not sure if this helps but i googled a hospitals policy on the GTT and it makes specific mention NOT to take Gaviscon.

I beliefe Gaviscon is now sugar free but it looks as if there is some good reason not to take it. I think gaviscon is sugar free now but I guess if it is still hanging around when you have the sugar drink it could affect absorption in some way and blur the test results.

hope that helps some xxx
