Lemsips

I have flu and have taken a couple of lemsips, thinking it would be okay. I have since read on here that they are not safe for pregnant women (I am 15 weeks).

I am worried sick now. What should I do?

I'm sure a couple won't do any harm. How many is a couple, if literally about 2/3, I wouldn't worry but if about 15 I might let m/w know just to be safe.
There are people out there that do alot worse than drink a lemsip without harm coming to baby, just don't take anymore, stick with paracetamol and I'm sure you'll be fine

Literally only 2!Will just take paracetamol and hot lemon/honey drink instead. I have been feeling so ill and tired just didn't think. Thanks for the advice. Flu and pregnancy sucks!

Check what's in them - if it's just paracetamol and vitamin C it should be fine. If it's got a decongestant-type ingredient then stick to paracetamol etc.

Try not to worry - I think most of us have done this and all is fine!! This is my third pregnancy and I was happily taking them a week or so ago (having taken them in pregnancies 1 and 2) as I had always just thought that it was fine as paracetamol based, then idly reading the packet as I waited for the kettle to boil I saw that it said check with doctor. I then looked at the leaflet inside and was slightly heartened to see two different headings - one says boldly DO NOT TAKE IF.... and the other says CHECK WITH DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING IF..... pregnancy was under the second heading, so I guess it can't be so VERY dangerous or it would be under the first heading.

Suffice to say I'm not taking Lemsip any more (why oh why did I have to notice this JUST before coming down with the worst flu I've had in about 10 years!!), but I'm not overly worried about the 3 or 4 I took before reading the label (or the many more I probably swilled down when pregnant with DDs 1 and 2).

I have only just got over terrible morning sickness and now this! Feel this pregnancy has not been much fun so far. I also have a DS and DH who have both got it. Of course DH has 'man flu' which is so much worse

I feel for you - I have a terrible cough. Have to admit, on the odd night I've hada few spoons of cough medicine though. I'm not unduly concerned though...figure me being sick is worse for the baby than a relatively tiny amount of medicine. I'm not advocating you go crazy with the 'drugs' but I am saying if the odd Lemsuip really make s adifference, I personally would take it (note...I have not a jot of medical training! :-) )
