What does a show look like?

DS2 is due today and I think I have had a show. I didn't have a show with DS1 so I have no idea what I am looking for.

It was kinda like watered down wallpaper paste with streaks of blood in it.

If it was a show how far off is labour and do I need to ring mw?

I do feel like an idiot with this pregnancy, everything I remember about being pregnant with DS1 has gone walk abouts.

Thanks

sounds about right

Don't need to ring MW unless you are getting any contractions.

Good luck

It does sound like a show, but you can get a show up to a couple of weeks before going into labour. You can always call mw just to check tho if you want reassurance.

browntrout · 12/12/2008 07:52

it does sound like a show but i had one about 3 weeks before i gave birth (i had thought i'd imagined it in the poor lighting in the loos at work but the midwife saw it from my urine sample 3 days later which always amazed me!) so unfortunately it doesnt definitely mean things are imminent, tho it is a sign things are moving in the right direction. unless the 'plug' comes out completely hold on til the contractions start. best of luck

kayzisexpecting · 12/12/2008 07:52

Nooooo I don't want to be here another 2 weeks.

sounds like it.

for both births show was about 2 hours before final stage. I only noticed because I was sitting on the toilet!
About 5 cm dilated and seriously contracting.

slim22 · 12/12/2008 07:55

Obviously I now realise that was the entire plug. Sorry to disappoint.

kayzisexpecting · 12/12/2008 07:56

I'd really like him today but he can wait a couple of hours. I'm trying to get DS1 dressed and he just keeps running round me shouting "Baby". Maybe he knows something I don't.

Keep active! just get on all fours and run around with him, contractions might just happen.

With DD (2nd baby) was a bit uncomfortable all afternoon but was far too busy to notice. Got home about 8pm and thought I'd lie down. They came in fast and strong as soon as I lied down. Baby was out by 11pm

kayzisexpecting · 12/12/2008 08:14

I've had a few contractions now.

I'm in 2 minds about ringing DH as he is in an important meeting with big bosses and they might be laying people off. I don't think walking out half way through will look very good.

God! Another banker?

Just let it be now. Is DS staying home or going to nursery this am?

slim22 · 12/12/2008 08:27

Are the contractions painful ?

ScottishMummy · 12/12/2008 08:29

hell yes.very

slim22 · 12/12/2008 08:43

kayzisexpecting · 12/12/2008 08:44

Yes they are. DS is staying at home today but I think I might ring my mum soon to have him.

I've told DH I need him at home. He has kept his job thank god. Just working a 4 day week instead of 5.

Good news!

How exciting! Maybe you can run yourself a bath when you have someone there to watch DS?

Good luck!

kayzisexpecting · 12/12/2008 08:48

DH is on his way home now so he can keep an eye on DS for a while.

Ooh, how exciting, good luck!

How strong / close are the contractions?

Wonders about settling in with a cup of tea to watch the thread

My labour really kicked off within 2 hours of my show.

slim22 · 12/12/2008 08:55

try and get some sleep or just breathe rest in a quiet space.

slim22 · 12/12/2008 08:56

what a marvelous idea. Going to get my cuppa and be back shortly!

slim22 · 12/12/2008 09:56

With DD I had a small show at 32 weeks, DD was born at 41+1 lol. I did have another show after having a few contractions about 2 days before I had DD.
