Maternity clothes for tiny people

Hi, can anyone recommend somewhere that I can get a nice top for Christmas for my SIL? She is a small size 8 when not pregnant and has trouble finding clothes that fit! Probably online as there are not many maternity shops near me. Also preferably somewhere that offers a 28 day return policy so she will be able to send it back if necessary.

I got a top from Seraphine but I think it is definitely too big in the smallest size. Also they only offer 15 day exchange or return so I can't really take the risk as she won't be able to return it.

The small size in H&M has always done me well. I am normally size 6 and 5'2. The more expensive brands tend to come up bigger IME.

Try topshop maternity - they do size 8 maternity wear.

TopShop are great but the maternity size 8s are a bit bigger than their usual size 8s, IMO. H&M was cut a bit smaller, I found. Avoid Blooming Marvellous, Mothercare etc. Their maternity size 8s are MASSIVE.

Do h&m do online orders though? I don't have one with a maternity section anywhere near me. Yes it needs to be a properly small size 8 as she is probably more like a size 6

You could try the size 0 from Isabella Oliver if not too pricey? I'm an 8-10 and get their size 1, which is on the generous side. Think the 0 is equiv to size 4-6, so with their generous sizing may be what you need?

Sorry, I didn't read the bit about online ordering properly. You're right, I don't think H&M do that.

I tried on a size S Blooming Marvellous top when I was really heavily pregnant with a properly big bump (and I'd put on about four stone at this stage) and it absolutely hung off me. I think it was more like a 12-14, maybe even a 16 in normal sizes.

I didn't know Isabella Oliver did a size 0, RuDiege. Good tip for me next time!

OK sounds like it might have to be IO then!! They are a bit pricey though! I have bought her another present as well, so will perhaps have to be one of IO's cheaper tops. I wear a size 2 in IO and am 10-12 so I think a size 0 might fit her. I could get the Seraphine top on even though it was too tight and I am 39 weeks pg, so definitely too big!!
I was thinking of blooming marvellous before posting this so thanks for the warning. Had a quick look on there and all the ones I liked were sold out in size 8 anyway so was probably a no go anyway.

I am usually a size 8 and found Next maternity clothes fitted well, most of it came in size 8 too. (Bit cheaper than IO as well!)

You could try the new maternity stuff from ASOS online - they go down to a size 8.

Oh dear, have now fallen in love with a 65 quid Isabella Oliver top!! How predictable.

Topshop is worth a look, though - cheaper than IO and if you get something in a fairly fitted style it will probably be fine. Or nice knitwear that wouldn't matter if a bit loose or something?

next do size 8.i had to wear bit bigger clothes as none in my size.

Can't see anything on Topshop online or ASOS that I think she will like, really wanted to get her something long sleeved (as it's winter, and will still be coldish by April when she is due) and everyday sort of wear so she can wear it loads to work and out, etc. A lot of the top shop and asos stuff is either short sleeved or really dressy/going outy, that I don't think she'd get to wear that much.

Will check out next, but I take a size 10 next maternity so I am suspicious that the 8 will be too big for her (she is v tiny!)

I just bought bigger clothes too.

I'm a 6-8 and wore normal clothes in 8-10 until about 26 weeks.

Next run too big for me, but Dorothy Perkins jeans were okay.
I tend to buy camisole vests (maternity) and then a size 10 jumper over the top, so you see the white vest at the top (where the neck is) and it makes sure the bump is covered at the bottom. IYSWIM.

Going out clothes/dressy I stick to normal ranges and go for something empire style.

Topshop's range is also a good 6-8 fit.

I suppose it depends on what her style is. Mine is very casual with low slung jeans, so I have been wearing size 8 jeans until a couple of weeks ago when I switched to maternity skinnies. (31 weeks)

She might feel better in normal clothes a size up.

Try Yummy Mummy Maternity www.yummymummymaternity.co.uk they do a size XS in lots of the clothes which is a 6-8. Also anything by Ripe Maternity in a Small will fit, as that it a small brand.
