I am in extreme pain from the moment I get up to go to bed and not sleeping much at all. The pain under my left rib is excrutiating and it feels like ligaments are stretching. My right side is fine but does anyone know remedies to help relieve this?

Rib pain late in pg is sometimes the baby stretching its feet up against your ribs, can you see/feel them bulging at all when the pain is there?

It could also be a pulled ligament, see what everyone else thinks but if you're worried, ask your midwife.

Upper abdo pain can be a symptom of various things, when did you last have BP checked, urine etc?

I had bp and urine checked on Monday and everything was fine. I told midwife about this but she just shunned it off. Its constantly there but don't know whether to just put up with it for another few more weeks but if I go over due then it means my belly will grow a bit more and don't think I could stand anymore pain. Not sure wot to do??

I'd mention it again, constant pain sounds unusual (from my limited knowledge and experience!!) mine was more twingy. Don't be scared to call them, it's what they're for, and they can at least put your mind at rest.

i had this. mine was from DS kicking me in exactly the same place (just under my ribs on the right hand side)

if it is your DC causing the pain, the good news is that it disappears as soon as you've given birth

i found pushing on the bit that hurt seemed to encourage DS to move away a little bit

but you know what, if you're worried you should try and get an appt with a different mw

Thanku for the comments. I think with all third trimester it goes so slow. I remember i had this pain with my first but not as bad. I sometimes get stopped in my tracks because being in agony. I can feel it now and it always a constnt pain no kicking there.

I had this with DS and it was agonising. MW didn't have any real answers but thought it was the ligaments. I found very gentle swimming really helped - I think its because the water supported the bump - the relief used to last a good few hours after as well. When it was really bad I also took paracetamol occassionally but that only took the edge of the pain.

in my case it meant that baby had turned breech (hence no kicking but ligaments stretching to accommodate head)

I could feel a big egg shaped bump, though. any chance it might be that?
