I am 38+4 today with my second DS. I can't wait to have him and would happily have him tonight. Getting slightly fed up now.

No one will talk to me about anything but the baby and the fact I haven't had him yet.

Best Friend texts me "have you had the baby yet?" my reply "Nope not yet. How are you?" No reply. I get similar messages from all my friends everyday.
Mum texts me "Don't have him today, the snow is bad"
Dad rings "No sign of my grandson yet?"
Old woman1 "haven't you had it yet?!
Old woman2 "You need to put your hands on top of your bump and push the baby down, he'll come out within 24 hours!

Randem people in street "oooooooh when is the baby coming?"

So when DH goes to work I either put up with texting a friend and only being asked about the baby or I can talk to DS about Roary the racing car!!

I am bloody sick of it and just want to rant, shout and scream.

Thank you for 'listening'.

Its bloody horrible when people only seem to care about the baby.

OK, but I do keep asking if she is OK as well, does that help?

LullyMummaOfOne · 02/12/2008 15:47

Im afraid it doesnt stop when the baby is born. Everyone i know still asks how my DS is before me! He is always the first to get a kiss or cuddle and the first to have a hugh welcome everywhere we go!
Its just one of lifs gifts that you adjust to! Im sure your find a way to deal with it! It might just be hormones!
Good luck with the birth BTW!!

kayzisexpecting · 02/12/2008 15:48

Yeah thats fine. My friends don't ask how I am just if the baby is here.

Phew.

OneBoyOneGirlWithBellsOn · 02/12/2008 15:50

frustrating isn't it. my friend actually started to say that she comes to see baby, me being there is a bonus!

2cats2many · 02/12/2008 15:51

I stopped answering the phone or repliying to texts in the last fortnight before ds was born. I was so f*ucked off with people asking: 'any news?'

I felt like replying: 'NO! There isn't any fcking news! If there was any news, you would have fcking-well heard it by now!!', but I just turned my phone off instead.

kayzisexpecting · 02/12/2008 15:54

I am so tempted to reply with something similar to that.

Just replied to one with "When he appears I will probably tell you"
Felt it was a bit snotty but it is really getting to me.

Everyone seems to be a MW too. Everyone has a way of making the baby come.

I really feel for you. DS was 10 days overdue and people started asking me if there was 'any news?' about 3 weeks before he was born, so I was thoroughly fed up with everyone by the time he was born.

Good luck with everything!! I hope he puts in an appearance soon for you.

CookieMonster2 · 02/12/2008 17:26

Tell all your friends that every time they ask if there is any news yet you will delay telling them the news by another day when it eventually does happen. I promise you they won't ask again .

prada · 03/12/2008 09:17

funny isn't it, if people didn't ask about baby then you'd probably get the hump, or if you didn't get that seat on the bus because you are pregnant.... i have no doubt hormones play a huge part as to how you are feeling! we love talking about our pregnancy when our bumps are small... i guess people are just being caring by asking ...

when my friend was pregnant i emailed her a general girlfriendy mail, but when she replied she made a point of saying "bump and i are well" i had recently mc so she was a special breed of (distanced now) friend!

all the best, not long to go....

anyway i just had ds2 12 days ago and it's fantastic being mummy of 2!

xxx

Congrats Prada!!

I don't mind being asked about the baby. Its just that no one talks to me about anything else.
