18 weeks and no bump. Starting to get worried.

Am 18 weeks tomorrow, and have got nothing to show for it at all.

When I went for blood tests a couple of weeks ago they weighed me and said I had put on under a pound since 1st appt.

I haven't been sick, just nauseous (unlike with DD, when I lost half a stone in the first 4 months)

Am sure with DD I have started to show a little by now. In fact, by my 20 week scan I def. had a little bit of a bump to show off in my maternity dresses.

Should I be worried?

Have got 2nd scan three weeks today, not sure if I should wait 'til then, or call the midwife now.

What do you think?

What is your figure like?

I have a bit of padding and with first and second pg I didn't really show until 20 weeks.

Am a curvy size 12, with fairly flat tummy (still!).

The bloody norks have got even bigger-am sure that's where the weight gain has been.

Friend who was a month behind me, pregnancy-wise, had a miscarriage last week. Wonder if that's why I'm getting myself a bit worked up.

im 20 weeks and still no bump to speak of! but i can feel baby move a lot now and heard heartbeat yesterday so i know there is one there!! got scan 2mrw. it is worrying when you dont feel pregnant thats how i have been feeling. This is my #3 and with #1 i showed early, with #2 i started showing at 7mths and with this still not showing every pgs different!

Littlefish · 02/12/2008 10:55

I have large norks and developed a theory while I was pregnant.

Your bump needs to stick out further than your norks before you (or anyone else) really notice it!

I didn't show until I was about 7 months!

I didn't have morning sickness at all, just felt a bit nauseous sometimes.

I also didn't put on any weight until the last 6 weeks. I put on about a stone in total and then lost it immediately (put it, and more back on unfortunately in the past few years! )

Altogether - a dream pregnancy really!

Phone the MW if you're really worried, but it sounds more like your friend's news has understandably unsettled you.

I have felt a bit like this although people assure me i do have a bump. I have a theory that with your second you remember how big you got with your first and compare your bump to that, whereas with your first every little difference is new and notable iykwim!

missblythe · 02/12/2008 11:15

Ahh, you are all very reassuring! Thanks.

Suspect I will look laugh at myself in a couple of months when I look like an outsized egg on legs and can't walk more than 10 paces at a time because of sciatica.

LF, agree with the boobs/bump ratio theory TOTALLY

MissBlythe, I didn't show with my second pregnancy until about 24 weeks (I was really sick and lost weight)

this time, I didn't show until 2o weeks and am massive literally overnight.

are you feeling movements yet?

MrsBadger · 02/12/2008 11:20

I got to 20wks and had to tell people at work because no-one had noticed

big bones help too - I was a 10 but a tall, broad strapping 10 (iyswim) and there seemed to be lot of space inside between my ribcage and my pelvis before the bump had to expand ouwards

dinny · 02/12/2008 11:21

yeah, MrsB, I stick out soooooo far almost instantly as have NO room on torso - am 26 weeks and my bump is already pushing tits up

Be happy - I don't want to show until as late as possible. I'm 21 weeks and still not showing very much and I am really hoping I don't end up huge at the end as at the 20 week scan the baby looked like a chunky little thing!

missblythe · 02/12/2008 18:21

Ach, you're all right.

I do have a long body, so lots of room for the baby to hang out without my tummy going pop.

But like you, Fio, saw lots of 20 weekers at the hosp and know I'll look nothing like them in a fortnight. They were ENORMOUS. I am not.

And yes, electra, I probably should be glad.

Have been feeling lots of reassuring flutterings today, so they baby maybe a a little one, but it's certainly there!
