Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

((((HUGE HUGS)))) you're doing so well hang on in there - from a lurker Auntie to a 27+5 little nephew, now a year on and doing so very well. xxxxx

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 26/12/2008 22:55

I've only just found this thread. Massive hugs to you and your little bean. {{{{{{hug}}}}}} Hang in there. You are doing so brilliantly x

treedelivery · 27/12/2008 00:23

Haven't sent positive vibes message for ages - hang in there. You're feeling/been feeling rough as your body is fighting an infection and it's doing an incredible job of staying pregnant.

Your cound to run out of adrenaline now and then and feel utterly crap. PLEASE try to fight the gremlin thats trying to make you feel guilty for all that's happened. You have done nothing wrong, nor has your body. It hasn't failed the bean - it's brought the bean from probably certain disaster at 22 weeks to the safe harbour of the end of December!

How far you have come. Bear with it and be good to yourself to get through this UTI. The strep B can be dealt with by the medics so let them get on with all that. You're a star!

Astrophe · 27/12/2008 02:51

I've been lurking for a while too, but just had to say that I'm praying for you and your son. xxx

JacksFirstChristmasMama · 27/12/2008 05:21

Late night ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

SpecialOffer · 27/12/2008 06:41

Just want to say have been lurking for a while, and w=you have been so strong! In your position you are entitled to a good moan every now and then!

Sending you all the best wishes to you and your little baby.

treedelivery · 27/12/2008 12:13

How you feeling today? You're allowed to say crap! I do and all I have is a sore pelvis so moans are fully allowed. Hope your feeling better though, or at least less ill with the UTI.

WorzselMincepieYummage · 27/12/2008 14:42

I feel much better thank you

We've just got back from the hospital again and the good news is they have put me back on Erythomicin which the strep b is sensitive too and said i can stop the trimethroprim after tonights dose... awesome ! i am sure the trim is whats making me feel worse and feel even more neurotic than i wold be normally, it is horrible and its made my amniotic fluid smell of ( way way way tmi ) fish which was the reason for our trip to triage this morning but the drs don't seem overly worried about that, they said it's because the trimethroprim is such a strong antibiotic that it wil have change my flora and that'll be the reason for the colonisation of the GBS too.. I got the feeling they were pissed off that i'd not already been prescribed the other antibiotics, as am i a bit.

Another good bit of news is we just popped to tesco for some T bags and one of the car washers cleaned our (utterly filthy) car instead of the one next to it which he was meant to (and was already fairly cean. So our car is now clean and it only cost us £2.50 ( after an attack on the conscience on my part, Df was all for giving him nothing !)

No bad news really. I feel a bit more mentally stable again. I feel a bit like i am going though it all in my own head, Df bless him is great but he's very straight forward, he wont worry about things untill they happen and he doesnt constantly try and second guess the professionals like i do so i feel that when i keep going on about it all the time he doesnt really get it.

I think i'd be lost without this post, its so helpfull to be able to get it all out and i really am thankful for the support. Hopefuly if anyone else has to go though this they will find it helpfull too

xx

treedelivery · 27/12/2008 14:49

Yay you!! Your body is very good at being pregnant!

Don't worry about the not being treated for Strep bit - its a wierd bug that nac be treated and then be back again the day after. I imagine they will treat you in labour regardless.

Great your feeling better - the uti is obvioiusly over so you can get your groove back.

May I recommend natural yogurt for your flora - will stave off thrush now you are on another antibiotic.

WorzselMincepieYummage · 27/12/2008 14:58

I have only else had thrush once, right at the beginning of this pregnancy and it was awfull.. I am really quite surprised not have had it again especially as i shouldnt imagine i have much bacteria left in my body, good or bad, after all these pills.

I think the plan is 4 hours penicillin or something like it when i eventualy go in to labour or to give baby a hefty dose when he's born if my labours to short

I dunno about getting my groove back but i feel a bit more human today anyway.

treedelivery · 27/12/2008 15:01

Good on you girl.

I'm tipping everyone off - mamasandpapas online have a fab baby clothing sale on. Think they do a smaller size than new born too. Do you know what your having?

WorzselMincepieYummage · 27/12/2008 15:08

A boy apparently

Will po and check out the mamasandpapas sale..bargains bargains.

My MIL works at a shopping centre and she said people were queing for the NEXT sale at 4.30 this morning, i think they must be completly barking mad !

treedelivery · 27/12/2008 15:13

Yep.

A boy!! They have lovely blue suits for £2.50!! Woo hoo!

kasya · 27/12/2008 19:39

Hi worzel, whenever I log onto mumsnet the only thread I really look on these days is yours, seriously. I'm glad you're feeling better, but it's no wonder you get fed up sometimes, it's not just yourself you're concerned for, it's your baby boy too. But you are really doing so well, in another week you will be at 28 weeks and that was your target, as I recall. Little one really is better of inside for as long as they think it's good for him, so keep it up, all things considering you are doing a marvellous job, and it sounds like your baby is blissfully unaware of it all!! Hope you had a good Christmas, we did (dd 3 and ds 1). Take care x

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 27/12/2008 21:43

Hey Worzel

I thrilled to 'see' you looking/sounding so much better today. You know your little one is doing just great in there and without you being so strong and perfect a place for him to grow you wouldn't still be waiting for him! It's not long now until 28weeks, my godsons were born at 27+6, 1lb9oz and 2lb12oz and they have just had their 4th birthday. 2 strapping lads full of noise and cheek! Hopefully the change of drugs will make you feel better. {{{hugs}}} to you, little W and the Worzel family. Heres to a 2009 baby!

Jacksmama · 28/12/2008 01:07

I'm with Kasya, yours is the first thread I check when I open my computer... hope you're doing ok today. ((((HUGS))))

CaptainKarvol · 28/12/2008 17:14

Good vibes to you from me too (yet another who comes onto mn to find out how you and your baby are getting on). Keep on doing what you're doing...
