I'm 19 weeks pg with dc2. I'm horrendously thirsty all the time, and completely knackered. I'm also at risk for diabetes as my dad has it, (type 2)plus am overweight. On the other hand, I've just got over a reallt bad ear infection/throat virus type thing, which could be causing the dry throat and the tiredness. I don't know! Feel like I've been at the docs every week for the past three weeks, so don't want to go again if I'm just taking a while to recuperate. Any advice welcome...

Has your midwife done a urine glucose test yet? If not get one at your next visit or sooner if you can- if its not GD then good and well but if it is (the thirst is a symptom as you probably know) you need to know sooner rather than later.

Could you ring your mw? Also, did your 12 week blood tests come back OK on blood sugar?

I think GD is more liley to hit in the 3rd trimester, but do ring and check.

I'm due a visit to midwife next week for my 20 week scan anyway, will ask for a test then. I haven't had my urine tested at all this pg, appointments seem to be very thin on the ground second time around! My 12 week tests were fine as far as I know. I am sheduled for a GTT at 28 weeks, just didn't want to leave it until then.
