I'm freezing in bed but don't want to buy any maternity pyjamas for probably my last pregnancy - any ideas?

I'm freezing during this pregnancy, 24 weeks sleep with a very think duvet. I've got carpal tunnel so my arms tend to be out of the duvet and raised above my head. My non maternity pyjamas all having gaping holes over bump and the bottoms too small. In my last pregnancy I just bought some big t shirt type nightdresses in M&S in a bigger size but they only have old granny ones with long sleeves this time round or short sleeves, tescos only have short sleeves.

Loved long sleeved t shirt type nightdresses - anybody any ideas where i can find them, cheap and cheerful hopefully.

Tried Primark? I will be browsing soon for a 'giving birth' night shirt then and set of 'after birth' jarmers

Wear a long sleeve top under the maternity nightdress plus some socks. If your arms get cold try leg warmers on them.

mrsgboring · 25/11/2008 13:45

Cardigan is what I'm doing.

witchandchips · 25/11/2008 13:48

jarmie top over nightie is one of my glamour outfit of choice.

I would break the bank and get a pay of maternity jarmies though (you might be wearing them non-stop in the last week or so)

Electric blanket!!

Will make a trip to Primark - although the only two times I've been there is smelt absolutely revolting, lets hope they've improved the store. Already broke the bank this pregnancy and got some isabella oliver stuff (on sale of course) so don't think maternity pyjamas good idea. Also last pregnancy I was boiling all the time so I keep hoping that my internal thermostat will be put on at some point.

I have just bought some yoga style pj bottoms from peacocks (£5) and they cover my 32 weeks bump lovely-
They are so comfy i will def be using them well after the baby arrives.

brettgirl2 · 25/11/2008 17:28

A thicker duvet seems the obvious solution.

KittyCat8 · 25/11/2008 17:35

Tapster- I'm with you on the smell in Primark..

the last time i went into the Kingston store was in the middle of my morning sickness period, i got ten feet in to the shop and had to turn and run! It was hideous!!

I've got the Matalan cheapie pj's and they're lovely... super warm and stretchy!

KittyCat8 · 25/11/2008 17:37

UPDATE - For all of you who responded to the varicose veins question earlier - I've just got back from the GP and not only is he sending me for more blood tests to check for clotting, but he's prescribed compression stockings as well!! I feel like an old lady!! tee hee...

ilovemydog · 25/11/2008 17:41

florence and fred at tescos - lovely flannel ones.... about to jump in mine now...

ch1cago · 25/11/2008 17:42

Double duvet, DH's t-shirt and some thick socks - working for me at 37 weeks. But am also trying to find some longer nursing vest tops - any ideas anyone? I'm 5'10" and the Mothercare ones come up to just below my bellybutton (not pregnant).

WotsThatSkippy · 25/11/2008 17:43

I bought size 18-20 PJs for £6 in Primark - bought 3 pairs + a lovely, cosy dressing gown for a tenner. Bargain.

Chrysanthamum · 25/11/2008 19:37

I agree, Primark has great jammies for a fiver. I got a bigger size last year when pregnant and now theyre all nice n baggy. I wish I had a bump to fill them with this year but will just have to settle for a boozy Christmas instead

glitterstar88 · 25/11/2008 20:47

I found some Emily B maternity pyjamas in TKmaxx today, think they were £14.99, I've only got two weeks till im due, but the top is suitable for breast feeding.

tsom · 25/11/2008 22:06

I've bought some PJ bottoms only from jojo mb £16.99, team with long tshirt nightie from green baby, has buttons at the front top so will also do for BF later. dh says nightie is probably most effective contraceptive known to man (it's not a good look) but ha too late for that

manyhatson · 25/11/2008 22:50

I find that if I stick my feet on DH's bottom, that does the trick

Tapster · 26/11/2008 08:25

yes its the kingston primark that stinks - its not just me then. is there a matalan in kingston? Can't get thicker duvet already at max thickness.
