Does anyone know if pineapple makes heartburn worse?

Thanks

It contains acid, less than orange juice though but it's pH is higher than water. It can make heartburn worse so it's best avoided.

I loved pineapple when I was pregnant last time...just have the Rennies at hand for afterwards.

If thats what your body wants....better to crave that than donuts! Plus it's meant to be good for getting labour going?!
(My ds1 was two weeks early)

I do understand the heartburn - I've already got through a big multi pack of Rennies with this pregnancy!

I think I might be having too many rennie's. I go through loads. 2 weeks 4 days to go.

From a 'regular' severe heartburn sufferer.... Heartburn is caused by acid from the stomach, not directly from food. Therefore pineapple should be fine, unless your oesophagus (sp?) is already inflamed and it irritates it on the way down.

However, I think that different things aggravate different people - my heartburn is made worse by foods that are rich/high in fat, caffeine and milk. I'm always told by doctors to avoid spicy foods and drink milk, I now just smile dimly because I can't be bothered to explain that they are wrong!
