4d Scan and not finding out sex of baby

Hello

DH and I want to get a 4d scan but DONT want to know the sex. Has anyone had one of these scans and successfully not seen the sex?

I know it depends on baby position but wondering just how obvious it is on a 4d scan

Thanks!

Hi,

We had a 4D scan and they dont sex them. If you want the baby sexed then they do it in 2D. What happens is they put the machine on and it is a normal 2D scan like at the hospital, then they focus in on the babys head end and almost flick a switch that turns it into 4D. Obviously you couldnt blame them if they put the probe on and there was a little boy showing off iykwim!.....however i'm sure if you made it very clear you didnt want to know, they'd do their upmost to keep it hidden!

I'd imagine that if you tell them you don't want to know, they'll try to avoid that area.

i'm having one in couple of weeks and can't wait, we already know anyway and wanted to. i would make them aware that you do not want to know so they avoid the groin area but it is risky as when they initially get a view of the baby it could be of anywhere and the baby might be moving around - it could become obvious by accident.
ask the clinic if they have had anyone else like you and if they are able to employ techniques to avoid knowing - but i wouldn't have thought they could say 100% risk free of not seeing sex.
if you do it close your eyes! and watch it after if safe - don't know what else to say really. other than that don't have one i suppose. hopefully clinic will have methods they can use. good luck to you and your husband!

its very hard to see the "sex" unless you are trained !

We have had x2 4d/3d scans with dd and ds and tbh neither times did we "see" the sex.
We were told because we wanted to have it confirmed from the nhs dating etc scans but no way would we have found out otherwise.

Yeah, people do say its obvious with boys & girls but imo its the opposite.

I still at folk who say "oh yeah it was so obvious it was a ds" like baby was there waving it about
