Hi,

I am a working mum, but only earn 76.00 per week at present. I am pregnant and have heard that I am not liable for maternity pay due to not earning enough. Has anyone had this problem or has anyone been able to recieve smp on lower earnings than me?? Thanks

Hi bizzykid,

Congrats on the pregnancy.

You won't be entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay, but you should get Maternity Allowance (paid through Jobcentre) as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

I think you still need to give your employer your MATB1 (at about 20ish weeks) and they will issue a SMP1 form for you to claim Mat Allowance.

see here.

Hope that helps.
