Hi Heron. I am 33 weeks and have similar.

In terms of what happens next, not much, the doc should help with diet etc. I have found following a low GI type diet seems to do the trick. Be very careful with:
bread
pasta
potatoes
fruit esp grapes, melon
and try to have protein with every meal.

Basically you have to cut down on sugar and carbs. NOt much fun

heron22 - I've had it twice and gone back to normal sugar levels each time (just found I'm pg again though so hoping I don't get a repeat!)

I echo what ScaredofEverything said about going on a low GI diet. I had a book that listed everything in a traffic light system way (I need to hunt it out so I'll post the name later)and I had to stick to "green" nearly all the time. I found that any bread (or wheat products - including pasta) were awful for my sugars (despite what the dietician told me to eat). Wholegrain Rye/oats/buckwheat and spelt were ok though. I ate a lot of sweet potato and new potatoes and salads, veg by the bucketload and lots of meat. I was scanned every 2 weeks from 30 weeks and my babies weren't big (8lb 2oz + 8lb 5oz - their big sis was 8lb 3oz and I didn't have GD when pg with her)

The big thing is don't worry. Talk to your MW at the hospital. Mine was invaluable. You can also ask to see the dietician for advice too. Goodluck
