How many weeks are you?

I think it depends on high your protein level was. When are they seeing you next?

lauraloola · 21/11/2008 19:49

Sorry, just saw you are 30 weeks!

Hi Funky, I had pre-eclampsia, but later in my pregnancy. I am no expert, but if they suspect pre-eclampsia, they should to a 24h-urine protein test (I believe it only matters how much protein there is over a 24h period). If your BP should be high again, they probably will put you on BP medication (which can be taken at home). If you are concerned about hospitalization, just tell them it would be much more stressful to you to be hospitalized than treated at home. I hope BP and protein are high for other reasons and you don't need to be treated at all. Good luck!

Glad someone mentioned this, was going to myself.
What does the protein in the urine mean then? I'm 28 weeks with 2nd pregnancy (all was fine in 1st) and they've said there's protien in urine and that it was very concentrated but my blood pressure was only slightly raised. They didn't mention anything else and I'm not due for another check up for another 3 weeks.

Littleboyblue, protein in urine can be symptom of pre-eclampsia but can also have other causes eg urine infection. If it's your second pg with the same partner and you didn't get pre-eclampsia in the first pg then you are unlikely to get it this time, but still possible. 3 weeks seems like a long time until your next check up. If you have any of the following symptoms you should get yourself to a mw/gp straight away to get checked: headaches, sudden swelling (esp of hands, face or feet), visual disturbances, or pain under the ribs.

Good luck to you and funkymonkey!

Thanx Leige, don't have any of the following symptoms, a slight pain under right rib but dr said it's normally the other side and blood pressure is ok.
Thanx, feel reassured now.
Yes, goodluck funkymonkey
