Spotting/bleeding around time of period

I have had an worrying weekend of slight bleeding, not enough to mark a sanitary towel but enough to be obvious when wiping, it started on Friday (the day my period would have been due) and has now virtually dissapeared. I spoke to my midwife and to the early pregnancy clinic, they both seemed to think it was hormonal and was to do with my cycle, i am having a re-scan on wednesday to see where we stand. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

Lewei, YES! There are Mumsnetters who had this all the way through an otherwise OK pregnancy. Hopefully Mears or one of the people who experienced this will spot your message and be able to give specific reassurance. But when Katherine and I (and others) posted about more general spotting early in pregnancy there was lots of evidence that this is very common indeed. Try telling that to us anxious types, eh, though. My spotting wasn't caused by this, it seems, but has now cleared up.
Hope you are otherwise OK. I owe you an e-mail, too! Take care and good luck for your re-scan on Wednesday.

Yup Lewei. First two times, I had this for the first few months, always when my period would have been due. Third time around, I assumed I hadn't succeeded in getting pregnant as spotting started on the day I would have been due. Try not to worry to much, it seems to me that it really isn't that uncommon.

Katherine · 10/03/2003 15:34

Oh Lewei its horrible for you to go through this. Whatever anyone says you will still worry. I hope the time passes quickly till your scan (impossible I know but try to get engrossed in loads of TV/ Films etc) and that you get good news. Beleive me the little one can go through a lot worse than this and still be fine but it is SO scary when it happens to you. Big hugs

mears · 10/03/2003 22:22

Lewei - it is not uncommon for this to happen until at least 16 weeks of pregnancy. Hope everything is alright for you. Best wishes, mears.

A very sad day, started bleeding and cramping this morning the re-scan showed that the little ones heart had stopped and by the time i got home i had totally miscarried. We are devastated after losing ds only seven months ago to lose another no matter how early, it feels like the world has fallen apert all over again. I am now terrified to even think of another pregnancy. Thank you all for your words of support over the weekend, it means alot to both of us.

LEWEI, I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you.

Katherine · 12/03/2003 18:35

Oh Lewei what can I say. Words do not express half of it. I'm so sorry. It doesn't matter what stage you were at it still hurts terribly. Pregancy after loss is such a hard thing to bear and to go through loss again is horrible but it doesn't mean it will be like this next time. Take time to heal and when/if you feel ready again know mumsnet will be there for you. But right now just concentrate on putting the pieces back together. All my love.

LEWEI, I am so desperately sorry. The hospital where Tom was born held a memorial service for parents who have lost children this afternoon, and you and Lewis were on my mind. I can't tell you how sad I am at your news.
