Head descending at 33 weeks - 2nd pregnancy. Does this mean labour imminent?

I saw the midwife yesterday and she could feel that the baby's head had started descending into the pelvis. This seems a bit early and I then got even more alarmed when I read in my pg book that this doesn't usually happen in 2nd pregnancies til labour starts. I think in my notes she has put 3/5 engaged. Has anyone else experienced this so early on?

i think this is quite commen in second pregnancies , the head descending earlier . If your midwife wasnt donning her rubber gloves then i doubt birth is imminent .

If you are really worried though why not give her a ring ?

Midwife said it can pop in and out of the pelvis so maybe it is just doing that. She told me I am small for dates too so I have a hospital appointment next week and it just set me off worrying that is was going to be small and premature.

In all three of my pregnancies the baby engaged at around 34/35 weeks, babies weren't born until over 40 weeks though, so in my case it didn't mean anything.

This is my second & my baby has moved up & down a lot over the last few weeks.. at 34 weeks she was nearly completely engaged & at a growth scan I had the sonographer couldn't measure her head because it was too low down. Then she moved back up & at 37 weeks she was "free" in my pelvis. Now, at nearly 40 weeks, she's 3/5ths engaged.
