antibiotics during pregnancy

hi im 6 wks pregnant and was recently prescribed flucloxicillin 500mg to take 4 times a day are antibiotics safe to take during pregnancy at such a early stage? as this is my partners first child and we have been trying to concieve for over 2 years and i dont want to risk any harm to baby? grateful for any advice given thankyou.

Some are - some aren't.

Is your GP aware that you are pg? If so he should have prescribed a suitable AB.

It is always worth double checking with the dispensing pharmacist....they know as much about the drugs as the Drs.

This website suggests that it is safe in pregnancy

thankyou as ive been told they are safe but i have had friends that have miscarried through taking abs.

happy, are they sure it was the ABs? A miscarriage is normally hard to point down to anyone cause. I find most people that I talk to will find something that happened in the time leading up to it that they can blame because they can't deal with not having a reason.
