scan dates

I just received my scan date today. It is for 5 January. That means I will be 14 weeks pregnant. This seems quite late to me. I thought scans we suppose to happen at 12 weeks.

Does anyone know whether this is quite late for a scan? Is it worth paying the money and getting the private scan.

Thanks so much. Sorry I am so clueless about this stuff.

The first scan is normally done between 12 and 14 weeks so I wouldn't worry about it, unfortunate that christmas falls when it does. Why are you worried about it? If you need reassurance that everything is ok (like I did) go to gp when you'll be 7+ weeks and say you're having pain, they should send you for a scan which will detect a heartbeat at this stage, but I really wouldn't worry about being 14 weeks, makes the time between then and your next scan shorter

Thanks for the reply

I didn't realised the scans occurred between 12 and 14 weeks so that is good to know. I guess there will be more to see at 14 weeks too.

I am not overly worried so I think I will just have to be patient.

Take care everyone,
