When do the stretch marks arrive then?

With my first pregnancy (ds: 1 next month) after he was born it was as if it never happened (to my body!), not a mark or ounce of fat on me! However, this time round things seem to be going a little differently! I'm half way through and have a few stretch marks appearing on my hips, they're not quite noticable except in certain lights.

What is the usual stage in pregnancy where they start to appear? Also, is there really nothing we can do to avoid them?

I didn't get a single stretch mark until I was 41 weeks, grrrr!

I used Clarins Tonic Oil religiously until just before that point though but didn't want to get another bottle as I was about to pop!

Wow that's annoying Ewe! Are they bad? I mean, do they have any affect on you and how you look/feel you look?

Getting quite worried now! You'd think I'd have bigger things to worry about...

Oh, did you have a good time in New York? You should put up some pics! I'm SOOO jealous!

Focus on the small stuff, much easier :-)

I didn't have any, as far as I remember til after my tummy had deflated. It was as if it could cope with gradually getting bigger and bigger, but the final "pop" was too much... having said that they've all but disappeared.

still some evidence on my boobs, but then going from a DD to an H will do that to you.

I'd say it's punishment for getting through unscathed a year ago OP :-)

I used Decleor tonastil stuff, everything else was incredibly frugal whilst I was pg. but that was a big spend. made me feel so much better, don't know if it helped though.

In my experience just when you think you have got away with getting any. I have them on my hips which appeared about 38 weeks into my first pregnancy, second pregnancy I got a few more and current ones got wider. None on my tummy at all though.

I religiously but lotion, baby oil, anything at all over my bump during my first pregnancy, didn't even cross my mind to also put it on my hips as well, and that's where all my stretch marks are.

After the baby has popped out .

i thought I had pretty much got away with it as well!

New York was amazing thank you! Had THE best time, will get some pics up.

My stretch marks are now mostly gone, well, they are very very faint so don't particularly think about them or notice them. I'm not sure I would be comfortable in a bikini but that's more to do with my jelly tummy!

can't really help with this as I didn't get any at all. I put it down to taking my vitamins and essential oils daily, as both my mum and sister got really bad stretch marks.

I have heard they are genetic, you get them or you don't regardless of what you do?...my friend got them two days before she had her twin boys at 36 weeks....the oil/lotions and potions are nice as massage tho so I reckon keep slapping 'em on!
