I'm 20wks pg now and have to face facts that it's maternity jeans all the way from here on. Last time I had some seraphine jeans, and about 3 different next pairs, none of which were brilliant, they all tended to fall down as i walked - all fit fine when I put them on, but I don't know if it's the design or style, or just me!
I'm normally a curvy 12, small-ish waist, big-ish bum. all the ones I've tried are either under bump or on the bump, with the band across.
any recommendations most welcome! TIA.

Well I've found one pair so far that only spend half the day around the crack of my arse and they are from Next.

QueenFee · 17/11/2008 20:32

I'm a similar shape to you and had a fab pair from ASDA last time with big panel over bump which I wore out they were so comfortable! Not very elegant but you cant see the panel with long tops

MarkStretch · 17/11/2008 20:32

They have gor stretchy panels at the side but are under bump.

Are Seraphine good? I may have to buy a pair.

bethdivine · 17/11/2008 20:39

well seraphine look great and are comfy, but always end up with me yanking them up.
hmm, maybe I'll look for either side panels or right over the bump then as all the ones I've got are similar in that they're just a little panel and I don't think it works for me.

H&M Mama jeans are a great, flattering fit - they look just like normal jeans but they have a super-comfy stretchy panel above a false button and fly. They retail at £27.99. Only problem is my pair now have a hole in the knee!

Marks and Spencer do resonably priced ones (£19) but the fit is really generous and they keep falling down. I am 25 weeks and I think they will be much better for the for the final stages...

Noppies over bump are really good - I tried M&S and took them back as they kept on falling down, so sticking with Noppies £68....plus they are a good length on me as I'm 5ft 8in and all the other maternity jeans are short in length..

Can only get over-bump styles to stay up and have just discovered the jojomaman one - can't remember the exact name but something like bestselling bootleg jean. Denim all over ie no jersey panel to stick out annoyingly under tops, very high rise to go over bump with hidden side adjusters. Not the most interesting jeans but they actually stay up and I think come in 2 leg lengths! Sizing is quite generous, fyi. none of the underbump styles I've tried stay up, from H&M to Seraphine.

H&M are fairly good.

Tinkerisdead · 18/11/2008 11:55

i use next over the bump jeans, they stay up a treat. the under the bump ones start to really pinch in my lower bump after around 30 weeks. im now overdue and i find "a nightie" the apparel of choice

aeonchix · 18/11/2008 12:54

my best maternity jeans has to be the boyfriend jeans from mamas & papas. it's the kind that sits below the belly. i'm now 37wks and very much chunkier when i started wearing them from 20wks. i'm also one of those unfortunate ppl with chunky thighs too.

i wish M&P came up with a similar cutting with the 'above-the-belly' kind. at 37wks these jeans pinches my belly a bit.

EffiePerine · 18/11/2008 12:57

Not jeans, but I have some cords from Gap with a stretch panel - they are really comfy and seem to stay up well. Prob worth checking out their jeans, though you need to find a store that stocks the maternity range. I find the ones from Next and DP always fall down.

catstar · 18/11/2008 13:41

I have found the ones that stay up best are over the bump - have got one pair from Next and one pair from New Look. Some days though my bump feels quite sensitive and I end up having to tuck a vest top under the bump to stop the itching.

Can't imagine them fitting towards the end though so think I will be back in my under the bump falling down jeans from Blooming MArvellous!

Does the perfect pair exist? Good luck in your hunt!

cheesebaby · 18/11/2008 17:55

I have 2 favourites, both under-bump, and neither needing much 'hoiking':

  1. pair from tete a tete - no panel, look exactly like normal jeans but v. stretchy waistband. Lovely soft fabric. Bit pricey but if I hadn't bought these I think I would have gone mad!

2)Also 2nding the vote for M&P boyfriend style jeans - have 2 pairs of these and along with the tete a tete pair have been my mainstay.

Both still going strong at 31 weeks, despite me measuring a good few wks larger because of a large fibroid.

Good luck - the decent pairs of jeans have made all the difference to how I've felt the last few months!

I looooove my boyfriend jeans from Blooming Marvellous. They are so comfortable, with over the bump band, but look low cut with top pulled down over them. I live in them at weekends - DH has to pry them off to put them in the wash! I'm 8-10 with biggish bum, but at 21 weeks they stay up well, but with plenty of room left in them.

My under the bump ones from New Look fall down, so I have to wear them with a belt, but they're OK for £12.
