On friday i had an upper tooth removed after days of toothache, i thought great all problems solved! Not!!

Since then i have a constant throbbing pain in the area its quite swollen and my face aches is this normal?

What can i take to help? ive been taken paracetamol but its not helping. Can you take anything stronger in pregnancy?

I had the same problem and all I was allowed to take which is a bit stroger than paracetamol is cocodamol. hope this helps

you might have an infection - might be worth getting it checked out - perhaps ring the dentist and ask for advice tomorrow?

Thanks i think i will ring the dentist 2mrw.
I only have paracetamol in the house but if still bad 2mrw will have to try something else.

This happened to me with lower tooth removal last month. I went back to the dentist and she put a natural remedy which tasted of cloves into the hole and it cleared up the infection from the inside. Don't know what is was called, but i got the impression it was something all dentists use, so maybe worth mentioning to your dentist.

hi -i am 21 wks pregnant and have not slept for 3 nites or eaten due to an absece in the roof of my mouth. after 2 failed trips to the dentist the emergency dentist gave me anti biotics and cocodamol cos it was sooo bad...... it may not be too good for baby but neither is lack of sleep, not eating ect.... hope this helps.x

If it's infected, then my dentist recommends a mouth wash of warm salty water (gross, but does clean it out). Do you have a heat/cold pack to press onto your face? Otherwise speak to the dentist/doctor about what you can take. And I hope it gets better quickly, IMO tooth ache is the worst pain ever so you have my sympathy

I'd call emergency dental line or NHS direct coz it sounds like you need to be seen straight away. If it infected, paracetamol will only do so much, you'll need anti-biotics. I have a dodgy tooth so know what you going thru.
Hope it's better soon

Hi thanks for the replys i went to dentist this morning, she says everything looks good but very bruised and swollen so she has given me cocodamol and i went an bought a hot pack so it is feeling a lot better at the min.
I was climbing the walls last night tho, i can deal with anything but toothache! x
