cervical ectropion - serious enough to cancel our last holday as just the 2 of us?

Had some bleeding today (am 24+3) and was told to come straight into hospital for a scan and examination. baby was absoluely fine and I was diagnosed as having a cervical ectropion - bleeding outside the uterus near or on the neck of the cervix. Apparently it's harmless, just the cells getting a bit irritated. Have been told to avoid sex and constipation (like I'd be trying to have the latter!).

One things is...dp and i are all booked to go away for a much-needed, long-awaited break on Monday to the canaries for a week. We immediately thought we should cancel, but after reading that a cervical ectropion is harmless, and may not be serious enough to claim as a reason for cancellation on our insurance, should we go, even though I'd probably freak out again if I have any more bleeding?

what would others do?

if this is what's also called cervical erosion, then i'd definately still go away, it's very common and not harmfull to you or your baby.

enjoy your trip

Cervial ectropion isn't a worry . i would be surprised if your insurance co. accepted that as a reason not to go. Go and enjoy yourself.

Again if you mean cervical erosion (it would appear they are different names for the same thing) it is no big deal.

I had it when TTC DS2 and during pregnancy and it cleared up by the time I went back for my 6 week check up. It caused no trouble apart from a little bit of bleeding

I would go - as you say, you won't get anything from an insurance company for this as I doubt you would get a doctor's cert to prove it was serious enough.

Did you tell the docs this morning that you are travelling? If they didn't say not to then I trust them and have a lovely time. It will be your last chance to have a relaxing hoiday for a very long time!
