Hi, im 7+4 weeks today and for the last 2 weeks ive been really cold. My hands & feet are the first to feel cold then the ret of my body after about an hour.

I do suffer from an underactive Thryoid but my results came back yesterday and my levels are fine.

just wondered if im weird?

Well if you're weird I am too . I am constantly cold (8 weeks 3 days), more so when tired or very sick. I mean cold as if I'm been standing outside naked in a snow storm. I had this in previous pregnancies too, so something I'm used to. Come third trimester and I'm the opposite!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 12/11/2008 15:07

i'm 16+1 weeks and still freezing! so not just you!

CookieMonster2 · 12/11/2008 15:12

I've had this before. My midwife looked at me as though I had gone mad when I spoke to her about it, but it does seem to be quite common.

Myneaux · 12/11/2008 15:14

oooh....me too !!!

DP has been moaning about having the heating on constantly but I seem to freeze the minute it goes off (tbh I have always been a cold person).....if I hear one more comment about the bloody credit crunch and utility bills Im going to scream .

Of course...he can get thru the entire year in his T shirt while I am buried in wooly jumpers.

With every day I am finding new and weirder things about being pregnant (am 11+3 with my first). Why is it that all you hear about is morning sickness?....why does no one warn you about the constipation, wind, extreme tiredness, spots and excruciating hunger and also warn you that the first trimester is the worst cos you cant even explain why you are feeling pants all the time?

anyway...rant over !

LullyMummaOfOne · 12/11/2008 15:22

Oh pheww, its not only me then! Glad there are others in the same boat. My DH thinks in strange too always putting the heating on, or in some cases ive put the oven on to generate heat.
Just another sympton i guess!

I'm freezing. Last time by about 24 weeks I was walking around in winter without a coat - this time at 7+5 I'm living in a big fleece.

Questionkid · 12/11/2008 16:13

I'm usually a very warm person but spent the whole 1st trimester feeling totally and utterly freezing. Bearing in mind that my 1st trimester was in June and July, this felt pretty odd. At 28 weeks I'm over it now, I think hot flushes are setting in!

chaya5738 · 12/11/2008 16:50

Wow, I thought I was the only one who was feeling really cold all the time. Glad to know it is not just me.

Sometimes I get really really hot too though, for example, after I eat.

Oh well, I guess there could be worse symptoms...

magnummum · 12/11/2008 18:05

Me too, have spent the last few weeks bundled up in vests, fleeces and hiding under a blanket on the sofa while DH runs about in a thin shirt...

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 12/11/2008 18:10

yes happened to me this time, gradually wore off tho and am now back to normal (20 weeks)

SpangleMaker · 12/11/2008 19:10

Happened to me too. I asked on my antenatal thread and several of us were freezing cold. Seems it's quite common - strange it's never mentioned in any books etc. Am now 15+3 and pretty much back to normal.

herbaceous · 12/11/2008 19:31

Hi Lulu, and ladies. I'm just the same. Sit on the sofa in jumper and hoodie, with a warming cat or two on my lap, while DP is just in a t-shirt. I thought all this extra blood would make us hotter...

MKG · 12/11/2008 20:35

Totally normal, and am now getting used to being cold all the time. I'm 23 weeks and this is my third pregnancy and it happened in the other two as well.

Bluebutterfly · 12/11/2008 20:40

I am 12 weeks and from about the middle of my first trimester I kept getting really cold (shivering etc) even when dh didn't think it was that cold in the house.

In my last pregnancy (winter baby unlike this one due in spring) by the middle of my 2nd trimester I was warm all the time. Didn't get cold when out walking on freezing December days! Apparently it is because in the 2nd trimester your blood volume doubles or something, keeping you warmer... whereas before the placenta is formed your body needs to work much harder to provide nutrition to the fetus iyswim.

thisisyesterday · 12/11/2008 20:41

yes!!!! I thought it was just me.

I am absoltuely freezing, even when everyone else is ok, I am almost 11 weeks and have been like this for the last month or so

superdenki · 12/11/2008 20:56

i am also totally freezing and when it gets really cold my nipples are excruciatingly painful - it's really unpleasant. am 14+ with number 2 and was the same with my first. got dh to get down the snowboarding gear at the weekend as i need the thermals!

roseability · 12/11/2008 21:06

I am glad I read this thread. I have been really shivery and was worried something was wrong

Daffodilly · 12/11/2008 21:26

Yep - happened in both my pregnancies - worse in first trimester.

This pg I found out I was pg in May and spent all summer in three layers and a coat surrounded by people in strappy tops thinking I was mad!

Invest in snuggly socks and a hot water bottle.

Ebb · 12/11/2008 22:05

I was freezing in my first trimester which was a bugger as my Boss ( I'm a nanny) was 6 months a head of me and she was boiling so kept going round turning off the heating and opening doors. Bbrrrrr! Was October/November. I did 'warm up' eventually and sweltered come the April / May!

zoejeanne · 13/11/2008 15:20

I'm normally a warm person, but right through I've been colder rather than hotter. I'm now 34 weeks and still not feeling this 'internal radiator' that everyone talks about. I did think it was just me, as friends all look at me like I'm mad for not overheating, but glad to read that I'm definitely not the only one

DustyTv · 13/11/2008 15:41

Lol, I was thinking about starting a thread about this. I was cold in the first trimester when PG with DD. I have been feeling cold for a few days now and I found out I am PG this morning.

I never usually feel the cold, I have a t shirt a jumper and a coat on with 2 pairs of socks and a pair of tights and the heating is up on number 3 I still cannot get warm.

LullyMummaOfOne · 13/11/2008 16:36

congratulations DUSTY, we will just have to all be cold together!!

Me too, and still at 21 + 5.
I'm dreading opening the fridge door.

Which means I have to stuff my face with whatever's in the larder instead.
