Strong period-type cramps at 32 weeks

I know the answer is probably 'go and see your midwife' but I'm currently 32 + 4 with DC2 and for the past couple of nights have been woken up by strong period-type cramps. I haven't had any other symptoms such as a show or any bleeding and the pains seem to come on, are pretty strong for a bit and then go away again. I'm a pretty robust character but were they period pains I'd be reaching for the hot water bottle rather than painkillers, that's the sort of level they're at. Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

Lu

I too have suffered with this and it too tends to come on at night time.

I was told bu the MW it was possible ligments stretching as baby heads further south, and that unfortunately it was just part and parcel of being pregnant.

Sorry I cant give more advice, but sending you sympathies

Glad to hear it's not just me. After fretting yesterday I didn't have any pains last night so will just wait and mention it at MW appointment next week.

Thanks,

Lu

Its all getting a bit crowded in there and (sorry if TMI) but i find that if I need a poo i get period style cramps as well. Its worth mentioning to your midwife as well as monitoring yourself, is it more an interminttent dull ache or a wave of pain that starts mild and gets stronger and then fades away?

It could be braxton hicks, but you should also rule out UTI as this can cause cramping too.
