38+ weeks, does anyone else experience this and what is it?

Mostly when im sitting down but also get when standing, i think the baby leans out of me and is pressing on something very low down at the front. It doesnt really hurt more discomfort and makes me grimace. Its a very wierd feeling to describe but it doesnt feel like a 'nice' feeling IUSWIM. Anyone have any clue what im talking about and what it is?

It might be Braxton Hicks - or do you get those and know what they feel like and this feels different. I was just thinking that if it was your first the 'discomfort' - 'leaning out of you' might be the womb tightening. I have 3 DC's and under 6 and that was all I could think of. Do you know what position your baby is in? Just think it might be trying to turn around ...

he is head down and facing the right way and has been that position for a long time, they not BH, it is something he is doing, something he is pressing on!

Does it feel like he is stabbing your cervix with a knitting needle?

em im not sure, def worse when i lean forward or sitting. it is a very low down feeling so a possible cervix thing?

If it feels lower than your cervix, I'd try and see your MW/GP, it could be a sign of UTI.

It could just be down to the fact that you have a 7lb-ish weight bearing down on everything, pregnancy is far from fun at times!

how do i know how low my cervix is? Sorry to be thick but have never investigated. Its sort of about an inch up from the front of your fanjo (measuring from the outside!) it is def only when he is moving...

Sorry if this sounds crude, but is it where you wee from, or where DH can only reach.... IYKWIM?

TBH, with either places, if it is when he is moving it is probably just pressure, if it is where you wee from though, again get checked for a UTI, there's no point in just putting up with it, if there is something they can do.

Have you had any big BH lately? Or a show or anything? Any unusual CM loss?

no nothing to do with where i wee from. its more 'internal' than that. im not doing a great job at explaining myself and have never err ventured into finding out where abouts my cervix is!

i have an irritable womb so i get random contractions all day. This wierd feeling ive been talking about ive experienced for quite a few weeks just that today i seem to be getting it very often. Last antenatal he was only 1/5 engaged which i know doesnt mean much as he is my 2nd. Ive had more CM today but thats it really. I never had a show with ds1!

You probably could reach your cervix, it will be up towards the back, if it's your second I think I'm right in saying that it will feel a bit like the end of your nose.

I have an irritable uterus as well, I think I know exactly what you on about now, it is like cramp (the type you get in your calves), but in a line running internally upwards from the cervix towards your belly button? And it isn't as sporadic as cramp, it is set off by the babies movements. It sometimes feels like when you go to stand up that you haven't got enough length in your belly to stand up straight? I am not good at describing it either LOL

I'm not sure of medical or technical terms for it, but I had it in my last pregnancy as well (also had IU then) and it's never been a problem, other than being uncomfortable.

erm sort of! Very strange! Hate all the random contractions though! I have to make sure i pee before i need to because just peeing with a fullish bladder gives a contraction! He doesnt stop wriggling round all day either which doesnt help!

I suppose, when you think about it logically, it is bound to happen. If you started running without warming up you'd get a cramp, so when the contractions start out of no where, the uterus isn't warmed up, so you get cramp.

I do feel for you, I had IU from 34 weeks with DS2, and have had it from 22 weeks with this one. Looking on the bright side, DS2's labour was only 2 hours long, which was put down to all of the 'working out' my uterus had done, so with any luck, a quick labour will be on the cards for you as well

ds1 was only 4 hours so im kind of almost dreading how quick this one will be just because of waiting for someone to come for ds1 and get to birth center. may well be a home birth!

I had very strong BH for quite a while before term with no. 3 - going over a speed hump on the road would set them off. In the end she took 20mins from 1st strong contraction ... Luckily I had been warned it would be so and so I went to hospital at the first niggle - had had a show the day before. Good Luck!
