I have drs appointment booked but I know it will be weeks before I establish these facts. I just want to know where I'm at. I was on the Pill when I got pg so am very confused.

Can I pay for an early scan? I want to know these things yesterday and tbh I just want to talk to someone.

Yes you can pay for a private scan which will tell you your dates, and how far along they are. You can book this yourself by ringing up. Best wait til around 7-8 weeks though as before that you might not see much and there should def be a heartbeat by then.

Is it expensive and how quickly can one book in - obviously I realsie this will depend on the clinic, but a rough idea?

I think I might be 6 weeks but it could be more or less. I'm going by symptoms really and they are quite strong for earlier no. of weeks.

I think it will vary depending on where you are, mine was about £75 for a 5 minute scan about a year and a half ago.

I think I got an appointment within a week of ringing, you shouldn't have to wait too long.

There heart beat is usally there from around 6 weeks but if you are unsure of your dates it might be best to wait an extra week just to be sure you have a chance of seeing it. Not much point paying to find out it is too early.

Hi I had one a few weeks ago and the prices ranged from £75 for a dating scan to £100 for a nuchal scan. When I rang up they said I could be seen the next afternoon, but I guess it depens what area you are from and how busy they are. HTH

Can I ask what area you are in?

Thanks for this. On the basis of what you've advised I've now booked myself in tomorrow for a dating/viability scan at a private clinic.

Oh thats good hobbgoblin, I had an early over the tummy scan at the EPU when I was 6 weeks and one day, and although it was tiny you could clearly see the heart beating away. My friend had an internal one when she was just under 6 weeks and also saw a heartbeat, It's really exciting, good luck
