Hi

Am hoping you can all help me with your opinion on something......
Went for our 20 week scan today and were keen to find out the sex of the baby (don't really mind either way but want to start buying either pink or blue things! ). The midwife told us she was 80% sure of the sex (don't want to put which she thought in case anyone i know reads this and guesses its me!). Apparently the baby wasn't cooperating by how it was lying which is why she couldn't see. What does that mean? Do you think she is hedging her bets as they can't be sure or is that pretty certain?
Also - we are thinking of possibly going for a private scan to a) get a second opinon on the sex and b) see the baby again in a month or so - it seems a long time to not see it again until its born!
Thanks for your help.

sounds totally plausible. sometimes they just can't see at all.
I wouldn't go out buying anything, because they can and do get it wrong.

also, I was reading something on another forum recently and a sonographer there was saying that actually later on in pg it can be harder to see the sex, because there is less room, and bones are more solid and you just don't get as good a view as you would earlier on

My friend was told the same. She got it right in her case though. Think its quite common.
