So...if you craved orange juice, fruit and sweets in pregnancy - did you have a girl?

And if you craved salty things, cheese, meat - did you have a boy?!

Just been told this.

Am pg with number 3, already have 2 boys, and craved salty things with both of those.

With this one I crave jelly sweets, fresh fruit and orange/mango juice. But also love olives and cheese (which I have never liked before but am not really craving).

What did you crave and what did you have?

Nope. I scoffed chocolate through both pgs and had 2 boys I'm afraid.

CharleeInChains · 10/11/2008 13:34

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 10/11/2008 13:34

I have a DS.

prada · 10/11/2008 13:37

i have had a massive sweet tooth and cake fetish this pregnancy and having a boy! but if your cravings are now opposite you might be onto something!!

good luck!

MrsMattie · 10/11/2008 13:49

I craved milk and chocolate with my last pregnancy. I had a boy.

I'm craving carbs, vegetables (?!) and salty crisps this time. I'll tell you what I had when he/she arrives in 11 days time

MsSparkle · 10/11/2008 14:06

Never craved anything as such with dd but had a big sweet tooth (well i do anyway) and this time i am still loving sweet stuff but am craving raw carrots My mum had a craving for carrots with me too so who knows?

MadreInglese · 10/11/2008 14:08

I craved (and ate by the bucketload!!) mashed potato with gravy, pineapple & grapefruit, and went off coffee

I have a girl

solo · 10/11/2008 14:11

With Ds I craved fruit cake and lager and drank it and wine.
With Dd I craved sour things like fresh lime juice in soda water, I even drank diet coke and I don't drink fizzy crap normally. Also fresh salads, fruit etc. Completely went off alcohol with Dd until half way through though.

solo · 10/11/2008 14:14

Oh and I even bought those sour sweet things with Dd.

Lubyloo · 10/11/2008 14:17

I craved iced lollies, ice cubes and Ginster's steak slices(?!) and had a girl.

saralou · 10/11/2008 14:22

ds1, i didn't like food, so it had to be kept plain.. mostly pasta with nothing on it - everything made me wanna puke!

ds2, i craved so many different things.. started off with pizza.. had to be dominoes.. then it was tomato's - particularly fresh tomato soup.. then at the end all i wanted was chilli flavoured stuff.. my favourite being chicken and chilli noodle soup! i hated chocolate - the whole way through it made me sick!

WorzselMummage · 10/11/2008 14:23

I craved carbs and spicy food during my pregnancy with dd and one that i lost but had a strong girl feeling.

This one i dont have any 'feeling' but have not realy been craving anything, gone right off food infact !

Mercy · 10/11/2008 14:26

dd - chocolate (am not normally a fan)

ds - eggs, bacon, sausages, pizza, kebabs - all the really healthy stuff!!

surprisenumber3 · 10/11/2008 14:42

oh Mercy, eggs, bacon, sausage, I couldn't touch that at the moment (and am 17 weeks!), and I couldn't touch those when pg with DS's either.

I went off coffee and choc big time with DS's but really fancy both of them this time.

At 11 week scan was told it looked like a boy so kind of got my heart set on another boy (which is fab, wasn't pining for a girl or anything), but now I'm worried at 20 week scan I'll be told it's a girl so trying to keep an open mind!

i craved sweets through both pregnancys have one dd and expecting another dd

Lizzylou · 10/11/2008 16:25

Craved Mature cheddar and salad cream sandwiches with Cheese and onion crisps BOTH times (2 DS's).
BUT also ate my (vast) weight in chocolate as well.

No wonder I put on 4 stone with DS1 and 4.75 stones with DS2

Mercy · 10/11/2008 16:34

surprise - I had all day nausea with ds until I was about 20 weeks pg (well, I say all day; for some odd reason it would suddenly stop at about 4 pm)

I still managed to eat bacon rolls etc for lunch

pinktree · 10/11/2008 21:49

crunchynut cornflakes with lots of milk for ds

I'm now 23 weeks pregnant and we don't know what we're having but if I don't have orange juice in the house dh has to to out and get some!

bikerunski · 11/11/2008 09:45

I craved marmite and cheese and had a boy. But I also craved ice cream, ornange juice and lime cordial.

Nbg · 11/11/2008 09:49

With dd I craved anything tasting of Apples. Apples, apple juice, apple flavoured sweets and Chocolate.

With the ds's it was ice cubes and ds2 lots of Galaxy chocolate.

I also had a craving in all pregnancies for sponges.
I loved sniffing and chewing them

I'm not a big believer in these theories.

LuLuBai · 11/11/2008 12:34

With DD I craved sweet stuff - brownies, cheesecake galore and was really averse to lots of stuff (mayonnaise, onions...). This time I have a bit of a sweet tooth but no aversions. Don't know what I'm having.

CuppaTeaJanice · 11/11/2008 12:43

Sherbet. I got through about 300 sherbet fountain tubes - threw away the yucky licorice though! I ended up buying the wholesale-size boxes of the stuff.

Had a very large boy.

MrsYang · 12/11/2008 12:01

Didn't know of those theories.

I'm expecting a girl and have been craving custard apple, mango, tangerine and anything containing milk.

Keep us updated on what you are expecting so we know if the theory is confirmed or not

Cosmogirl · 12/11/2008 12:07

It has been chocolate and sweet stuff all the way for me...which is supposed to indicate girl. We shall see I suppose.

myermay · 12/11/2008 12:12

i craved anything salty or stogy - marmite, toast, crisps etc etc and have too boys.

Lucky thing having number 3 - i'm very broody!
