scan says 5weeks when should be 6 or 7 weeks..

hi have just started that new thread as got no answer from last one (stomach pain, pregnancy or mc?). went for scan this am after stomaich pain (due to diarrhoea) last night and found out i am only 5 weeks and could not see much apart from sacs and good location(not ectopic) but i should be more (6 weeks) even 7 weeks according to last periond but as i explained on last thread my cycle might have been messed up due to the pill that i started on the 19th for only one week which made e bleed again after i stopped and i think i conceived on the 10th of october...can anyone explainn or has had a scan that said they were earlier than they thought? i am just worried that embryo not developing well, sorry i am so paranoid as i had a mc last year, i am driving my dp mad!!!

Hang in there lalatele - periods & cycles are funny things - do you feel pregnant i.e sore boobs, strange taste in mouth??

With my DS, I had to go for an early scan due to bleeding - it was about 8 weeks (according to date of last period) but turned out embryo was only approximately 6 weeks - turns out I ovulated late that cycle as all other scans supported the date given from that scan.

Am now pg with second child and didn't get a BFP until CD38 and I had ovulation signs on CD21/22 so I guess I just ovulate late in my cycle - so maybe this is the case for you.

All dates are based on a 28-day cycle but some women are different.

yes, i have sore boobs, sometimes nausea (quite bad) and urinate a lot! but i am so worried...

I have posted about this before when i went for my 12 week scan found out i was 8+3 but in past experience it is usually better to go with scan as they know what they are looking for and the earlier they scan you the more acurate the dating is.

It is frustraiting but i think it has to do with long cycles. According to my lmp i should be 20 weeks but im 17 weeks!! they say its down to a longer cycle. Hope this helps x

I would say to try not to worry too much, when I went for an early scan at 6+ weeks they could not see anything but the sac, waited a terrible couple of weeks had another scan and baby was exactly right for dates. Scans are not 100% accurate, especially early or late ones. It is obviously not possible to rule out a mc, but it is equally not necessary to assume it is going wrong either. I hope it works out for you. When is your next scan booked?

thank you all...i am so irrational these days...found out i was pg last monday so counted and it should have been 6 weeks last week! it is so odd to think you have passed weeks when you are only 5...the waiting time seems soo long! when u had one mc before, it is always so worrying! i do have long cycles(33 days) but i shouldn't have got pregnant as i conceived on around the 10th of october (3 weeks after start of periods) so the pill messed everything up...don't get me wrong, i would be over the moon if everything went well!

I had the same, my cycle was about 5 weeks, so I reckon that's why I looked behind on the scan, all went well with the pregnancy. it's horrible being in limbo waiting, but hopefully all is well.

glad to see i am not the only one! it is so reassuring...i am booked for next scan in 2 weeks time, agonising...

It's really hard not to worry especially when you've had an early mc before.

Our dd (15mths) was conceived after 5th IVF (11 yrs of trying) and this summer I fell pg naturally but had mc at 8 weeks. Was just about to have another IVF attempt in October & found I was pg.

So now at 7 weeks - had scan & was told I was 6 weeks not 7 so waiting for another scan next week - these times are sooo slow and we are all just waiting to pass the first 12 weeks safely. I wish everyone well ... Its a waiting game!!
