If so, how was it, were they correct etc?

Thanks

I haven't but a girl on another board i use went and had one which cost her £80 or something and got told a boy then got told a girl at 20 weeks after she had decorated her nursery and bought everything blue.

Nightmare !

MissyK · 07/11/2008 11:29

Oh no!!!
Do you happen to know where she went?
I'd hate that to happen

Not a clue sorry

I think at 16 weeks they are pretty inaccurate generally though, you might be better off waiting for your 20 week scan ?

MissyK · 07/11/2008 11:39

The don't tell you where I live
Was thinking of getting a private one as we're going to be in the area that week. The company say they're 99% accurate and another one say 97% But guess you never really know, you could always be that 1%...

It's £65 so we could afford it, on the other hand it would pay for a moses basket.

Maybe you cold wait a few weeks and then go ? i think the further along you are the more accurate they are although 99% seems like pretty good odds to me anyway, maybe the lass on the other foum was just the unluky 1% x

bythepowerofgreyskull · 07/11/2008 11:46

why not just wait until your 20 week scan..

frankbestfriend · 07/11/2008 11:46

Why don't they tell you MissyK? I didn't realise other areas had different policies on this

VinegarTits · 07/11/2008 11:48

why would you want one its only another 4 weeks till 20 week scan, why could you not wait?

MissyK · 07/11/2008 11:49

On the Isle Of Man they don't tell you, They didn't 4yrs ago with ds either, so don't think they ever have. Unsure on the policy as to why.
There are also no private scan companies, so anybody who has a scan privately get them done when they're in the UK.

Oh ok

As you were

MissyK · 07/11/2008 11:53

You don't get told the sex at the 20week scan. Also this is the only time we'll be in the UK until after the baby is born. So it's now or never. Undecided.. Would really like to know, and think if we did it could help ds come to terms with the pregnancy, knowing he'd have a brother, or a sister, he seems to get confused by just 'baby' and 'we dont know what it is'
I know it's not essential to know, but it would be nice

Also I still have lots of boys things that if we were having a boy I'd keep, however if not I'd send them to my sil in the UK for her ds due at xmas

Do it, imo.

There is a tiny chance it might be wrong, but that would apply at NHS 20 week scan too.
If it's your only chance I reckon you should book in now

Still a bit confused about the strange policy of not divulging to parents, though

WorzselMummage · 07/11/2008 11:59

we're having the same dilemma about clothes at the mo.. 20 week scan next week and i dunno if i want to know really but knowing would be so much easier as if we're having a boy i can offload give all dd's pickness to my sil who's having a girl 2 weeks befpre we're due.

easy to know but nice not to know, nothings ever easy is it !

WorzselMummage · 07/11/2008 12:01

PINKNESS even

MissyK · 07/11/2008 12:11

Yeah, I think I will do fbf, I'll have a chat with them first to find a bit more out about them.
I know they do it in 4d, as they say it makes it easier to show the parents than in 2d. And that they won't charge if they can't tell us (they usually offer a free appointment but we won't be able to get back).

WM - I totally agree, the surprise would be nice but on the practical side it'd also be nice to know & get organised.
