Pregnancy: Sugegstions for itchy skin relief

I'm 5 months pregnant, and over the last week have developed seriously itchy skin (but no rash or anything), especially my scalp, face and back. It keeps me awake at night.

Does anyone have experience of this and suggestions of how to relieve it!

I'm a bit worried as 15 years ago I had Hep E and I had the same symptoms, and when I looked at the NHS website it mentions obstetric cholitus. Plenty to panic about then!

i was suffering from really itchy, rashy skin a few weeks ago and since then have been using Aqueous cream all over, particularly on my bump and it helps. I'm avoiding the perfumed stretch mark creams as they seem to make it worse.

Thanks. I'll give it a try, and maybe start using a different shampoo.
Haven't got round to using proper stretch mark cream yet - no doubt I'll get hideous stretch marks.

I had ob cholestasis and you should get checked out for it next time you see someone. Classically it's worst on your palms and soles of your feet. There are other reasons for itching though so don't panic.

I found camomile lotion really helpful.

Thanks, I'm seeing my doc this afternoon, so will ask her. Currently the palms of my hands/soles of my feet are unaffected.

You say camomile lotion - I hope not calomine lotion?

"cholestasis" - must remember it right.

I meant the pink chicken pox one not the flowery tea one!

Oh heck, I feel unattractive enough without pasting that all over my face/body!
