4d Scans? Anybody had/having one?

Hello. I am soo tempted to go for a 4d scan. We can't afford it really but could ask for it for Christmas from parents.

I went to the baby show and they were doing it at a discounted price there (£95 with dvd and pics) and if I had been 24weeks + which is what they were asking I would have done it. I saw how amazed the people who had it done there were.

But is it worth all the money? We are in Uxbridge (UB9) if anybody happens to be remotely near us.

Has anybody had one? I would love to hear from somebody who has had it done and can tell me if they are glad they did it or if there were better things to spend the money on.

It is my second pregnancy and I didn't have it done with my first, but only because we had no money.

One thing that puts me off is that a lot of places don't enclude sexing in the price which I think is so silly. We will find out the sex at the 20 week scan but would love to have it confirmed again so we know to trust it iyswim as we want to know if to keep all my daughters pink stuff or give it away etc. But not if we end up having to pay an extra £50 on top of the price when we already know?

Also, if you did have it, where and how much did you pay and did they tell you the sex?

Thank you - sorry for such a long post!

yes i had a 4-d sexing scan @ 25 weeks with this one number 2 didnt have one with dd.
definetly worth is it was amazing, to see her in me showing facial expressions etc

we had ours done in portsmouth it cost £110 which included sexing scan, 5 free black and white pics and a cd of 20 pics that we printed off

main reason we chose sexing scan was that they could not tell us sex @ 20 week scan

chloemegjess · 04/11/2008 09:15

Thanks for that. I really want to do it. I am going to talk to my mum today and see what she thinks about getting it for christmas and/or my birthday

Was just looking on the babybond website but the 4d options don't say anything about sexing? If you go onto the gender scan it is only in 2d. I am now a bit confused about how much it is to do 4d but with the sexing bit too?

they are all different prices - I'm hoping to get one for Christmas too! Just type in 4d scan uxbridge on google and see what comes up - it should have a price for sexing - I think some include it in the price....

chloemegjess · 04/11/2008 10:28

I have tried just googling that but not really got far. It comes up with websites that are miles away - as in hours!

I went for one when I had dd, and I would certainly go for one again.

Can't remember the price as it was back in 2006

I do seem to remember it being reasonably cheap as there was a couple in before me who had travelled all the way from Wales (the scan place was in Nottingham) to have it done.

Got a couple of pictures, and a DVD of dd moving about. She'd hidden her parts on my previous scans so it was also when I found out that I was expecting a girl. Sexing was included in the price... can't imagine why it'd be extra tbh!

Pinkjenny · 04/11/2008 10:39

I had one, there is a pic on my profile, right at the bottom.

LullyMummaOfOne · 04/11/2008 10:48

My sister is having a 4D scan with babybond at the weekend, she doesnt want to know the sex but they said they would tell her if they want to know on the day, i think its included in the price. Maybe call them to check. I will let you know how my sister gets on.

Have a look on YouTube if you want to see some Videos, just search for 24 week 4d scan or whatever..

My Best Mate had one when she was pregnant with her daughter and it was good i think she got it done somewhere near leicester.

I don't fancy it myself though.. even if it wasnt going to cost the best part of a hundred quid i find them a bit freaky..

I had one as a birthday present - was fabulous seeing the baby (and all the cord and placenta - ew!). It wasn't sexed formally but you could definately see a couple of nadgers there. I think they don't offer to sex them because the baby may not be in the right position and they can't guarentee they'll see the necessary workings. Have only watched the DVD once since then (over 2 years ago) with family. Watching it back is pretty boring really . Not sure I'll be doing it again with second sproglet, although was definately worth having it done once. Cost £95 in Wiltshire.

I had one done at Babybond (Cardiff) 6 weeks ago at 30 weeks. I think it would have been amazing if the baby had not had her hand over her face the whole time!

The lady doing the scan was very patient and gave me some time out to go and have a walk etc to try and move the baby, but she did not shift her hand the whole time - we just had little glimpses of her face now and again.

I had been told at my 20 week NHS scan that the baby was 80% likely to be a girl, the lady was willing to check for us and at that point she could safely say it was a girl as things were more developed by then.

It cost us £125 and we had a dvd and a few pictures. They also check the position of the baby for you.

chloemegjess · 04/11/2008 13:40

Thanks for all the response! I want one now! lol. I did find eventually on the babybond website that the more expensive packages £175+ do state that they include sexing but the cheaper £125 ones don't say anything about it. Don't mind paying about £100 but much more than that is getting silly I think

flynn1984 · 21/11/2008 11:39

Well thats my 4d scan booked for 13th March when I'll be 25+6. My birthday is the 12th March and DH is 13th March so that will be a good present for both of us cant wait!

TeenyTinyTorya · 21/11/2008 11:43

I had one done last time at a place in Livingstone, and will have one done again this time. We spent about £100 and got a cd with a video of parts of the scan, pictures, and a b/w sexing scan. Definitely worth it.

flynn1984 · 21/11/2008 11:59

Teeny it's Livingston I'm going to, getting the complete package at £195 as a present from my mum. My SIL got her's done for her 3rd DC as wanted to make sure it was a girl and the quality of photos were great!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 21/11/2008 12:11

For those who have had this scan, did anyone NOT want to know the sex.

We are keen but dont want to inadvertently see bits!

weddingcake · 21/11/2008 12:49

Can anyone recommend the best company in London for one of these? I live SW but obviously happy to travel

FruitynNutty · 21/11/2008 14:26

I got a voucher from the Baby Show worth £125 but I paid £95. It was through Babybond Were you not offered this?

Ginni · 21/11/2008 22:34

Baby Premier on Harley Street was fantastic, and also the cheapest one I found in London.

SaveFerris · 21/11/2008 22:42

I had one done last night at 27+4 and I am so glad I did. Told at 20 week scan we are having a girl . . . . but its deffo a boy!!!! Have to start taking all the baby girl bits back now!

In Cardiff, cost £230. They did a full growth scan too - baby weighs 2lb 4oz atm.
