Hiya

Just wondering if anyone out there is pg and lives in the areas mentioned above. I'm 7 + 5 weeks pg and starting to think about which hospital to be referred to for delivery

Hello,

I'm from around the general vicinity, and gave birth in the RAH for my last one, and will be again for this one. Its great! Well, except for the food, which is beyond awful.(I'm 16 weeks btw) I've also heard good things about Crosshouse, which might be an option if you're nearer the Ayrshire end.

Hiya esmeweatherwax

Thanks for your reply.
I'm closer to RAH (20min drive)and remember visiting my SIL when she gave birth to her 3rd and it must have been when the maternity ward was being done up as there were wires hanging out and holes in the wall...take it it's a lot better now

Yeah, I think they've mostly finished the renovations, although I can't be sure, since I haven't been there since having dd except for scans and suchlike. I was in before they started. Hopefully you would get into the MLU if you have a straightforward pregnancy, its supposed to be very nice. Although I was on the ward and found it fine. Most of the midwives were excellent, I has a cs, so was in for a few days. Tonnes of support for breast feeding too.

Hi flynn1984 brrrrill lol absolutley freezing! but all good. I have been living here for 12 years now but always back and forward for shopping etc theres nothing much in that way here!

frasersmummy · 03/11/2008 21:34

I gave birth 3 years ago at the rah...

the clu was reasonably nice though there were no ensuite facilites(this may have been done up by now) The new mlu is fantastic.. all rooms ensuite, a birthing pool and a lovely little recovery ward of its own.

The other good thing about the rah is that if you go to the mlu and you need a doctor for an reason they are just downstairs

broodymom · 03/11/2008 21:40

Oh i have to have clu hope it is nice.

EsmeWeatherwax · 04/11/2008 10:02

I think the CLU has been done up since I gave birth there, 19 months ago. I hope so, because it was a bit tired looking. Although again, can't fault the staff.

Hiya all

Was up seeing a friend last night at RAH and the MLU is lovely now, all rooms ensite so my doubts about RAH have disappeared from now. Can just remember all the horrible stories in the Greenock Telegraph about RAH after Inverclyde Hospital lost their maternity unit.

I had a baby 10 weeks ago at the RAH, labour and theatre staff lovely, as were antenatal and day care but I found post natal beyond awful and signed us out after a day. The noise from the renovations was horrendous and so loud my baby's cot was moving along the floor from the vibrations and DP and I had to shout to each other over the noise.

Sorry but it really was terrible.

EsmeWeatherwax · 04/11/2008 10:12

Sherbet, really? What a nightmare! Arethey ever going to finish it? Lol..they'd better be done before next April is all I can say...

sherbetdipdab · 04/11/2008 10:18

Oh, hopefully they will be finished then!

Lib76 · 04/11/2008 18:36

i had my DS at RAH in June, found the whole care fantastic, but agree with Sherbet there was a lot of noise due to renovations. I was emc under ga. labour suite was great had en-suite and had all just been done up and staff were so supportive. BF support great, food terrible!! my consultant was Dr Hair and he is SOOOO nice. felt the satff on labour suite made you feel really special, they all came in once DS was born and i had come too and said congrats. will def go back for number two!!
