I am abroad and am paying for all my AN care privately. With my DS I paid for a private nuchal fold scan and associated blood tests because the NHS where I lived in the UK only gave a double test. This time round I am wondering whether I should have the blood tests if the nuchal looks ok. Do they really give me anything extra? I?ll be having a 20 week anomaly scan too. This sounds mercenary but it all adds up when everything is private and it can add to the stress of it all too.

Any views or advice? Thanks.

iirc the combined result provides you with more information about other issues like spinabifida (sp?) and markers for other genetic abnormalities.
I would go for the combined result every time, not because I would terminate the pregnancy, but so that I was prepared and had a chance to get used to the information before meeeting my baby.
