I am 42 and 10 weeks 2 days pregnant for the first tiime after IVF with egg donation. Over the last day or so I have noticed a reduction in pregnancy symptoms - I am not as hungry, my boobs are far less tender and the fatigue that I had been experiencing particularly in the evenings has lifted. Although we only had a scan a week and 1 day ago and saw our baby's heartbeat I am completely paranoid that something bad has happened since then. I had bleeding earlier and have had 3 scans since becoming pregnant but that has been all clear for some weeks now. My partner is still confident things are ok because my tummy sticks out and my boobs are bigger but I am frantic and fearing the worst. We have a 12 week scan in 12 days but it seems an age away. Has this happened to anyone else? It just seems too early for symptoms to reduce - I have read that thiks is uisually week 13 onwards.

Hi Chilli

My symptoms dropped around week 10 in this pregnancy and I also panicked (had miscarried previous pregnancy so was very fearful) - but all was well! My pregnancy book (Pregnancy Week by Week) does say that sickness etc can start to fade as early as week 10, HCG can start to fall then.

Congratulations btw, and good luck.

Hi, In my first pregnancy my symptoms started to fall off pretty rapidly about the ten week mark, was really worried, but all was fine, second time they lasted a bit longer, all fine again, seems that different pregnancies are just different, so please don't worry. If you still are, maybe have a word with your midwife for extra reassurance.

Don't worry. With both my pregnancies I had no symptoms by my 12 week scan. Morning sickness had gone and I just didn't 'feel' pregnant. I was convinced with DS1 that when I went for my scan there'd be nothing there and I'd be in trouble for wasting hospital time or something!!! Of course that wasn't the case at all and there he was on the scan jumping round like a mexican bean!

Good morning Chilli

Congratulations!

I think, as marmite says, that things are different for everyone but, like you, I too had no symptoms by week 12. I wasn't tired anymore, my boobs were no longer sore, and the mild sickness I had had in the late afternoon was gone. (I also hadn't put on any weight and had no bump whatsoever!). I was frantic as it had taken three years and lots of fertility treatment to get to that point. Needless to say, though, everything was absolutely fine and the "baby" is now three years old!

Sorry, that should say week 10. By week 12 my boobs were back to being excruciating!

Hi chilli,

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I was exactly the same, around week 9 / 10, my symptoms eased off and I felt almost normal. I was terrified something was wrong.

However - during week 11 and 12 my symptoms came back and my morning sickness (in particular) was worse than ever before.

Enjoy this break in your symptoms, you don't know when they will start up again!

Hi Chilli

My symptoms lessened after 10/11 weeks and I'm feeling wonderful at the moment. A wee bit tired and my boobs still ache a bit but not as bad as it was a few weeks ago.

I really wouldn't worry and enjoy it. It's a fabulous feeling after weeks of sickness and tiredness to be well again - something i couldn't even imagine at the peak of it around 6-9 weeks!

frazzledoldbag34 · 31/10/2008 19:43

My symptoms (nausea in particular) pretty much disappeared between 9-9.5 wks. I'm now 12 wks, all is well with the baby (had scan yesterday) and am feeling fine. Boobs big, and so is stomach and still a bit more tired in the evenings but really otherwise normal.
My guess is everything is fine for you - you're just lucky to be feeling better so soon. Try not to worry. I think this happens to a lot of women who then panic becuase most books say week 12 is when you should feel better. Every pregnancy is different!
Best of luck and congratulations!

This happened to me at about 8 weeks with DD (I'd already had 2 miscarriages). I just phoned the hospital and they cheerfully let me in for a scan. It was fine, and the nausea soon returned with a vengeance.
Definitely worth calling the midwife if you're feeling awful. Good luck!

I found that my symptoms came and went - I'm sure everything's fine and by tomorrow boobs will be like torpedos again!
