you can take antibiotics for UTIs during pregnancy - in fact you should do, you should leave it untreated. UTIs are very common during pregnancy.

You shoud NOT leave it untreated

I meant to say!

I had a UTI a few weeks ago - turned from cystitis to a kidney infection and I was quite ill. They are very worrying as they can cause miscarriage/early labour. I was scared still because I had some bleeding but luckily (ha) it was from my kidneys and baby is fine. If you don't start to feel better soon then ring your GP.

I had three in my last pregnancy, one that became kidney infection as already discussed. Baby came at 35 weeks but not known if that was the cause (there were loads of other things going on as well, and the urine infections were all between 20-30 weeks iirc).

Just to say I sympathise, it's agony isn't it? You should go and get urine retested after antibiotic course finished as you may need to try a different antibiotic if its not cleared up. Also I was prescriped co-dydramol for the pain which helped a lot.

I've started a course of antibiotics this morning for one (I'm 16+5), but I'm allergic to antibiotics. I'd have left it untreated if I wasn't pregnant, as I end up feeling worse on antibiotics than I do as a result of whatever's causing my need for them. Blech. I don't think there's a reason to worry so long as you take the antibiotics, though

I am 26 weeks and have had two so far. They are horrible they hurt!

You are probably getting over it now, but I just wanted to add that I had re-occuring kidney/water infections whilst I was pregnant with DS. One of the infections was so bad that it sent me into labour at 29 weeks.

So make sure you keep drinking plenty and take all antbiotics,(not that you wont take them all).
