Birth weight of second, third, etc baby was it heavier or lighter??

Had a discussion with mw yesterday she said to expect this baby (#3) to be heavier than first!

Im only 15 weeks but my first was 9lbs 13oz and second was 8lbs 13oz she said it was unusual for second to be smaller and to expect this one to be bigger than both!

So naturally im now feeling very worried at the prospect of a baby larger than 9lbs 13,

How do they work this out?

Please tell me this is not true!

IMO they don't 'work it out' they take a wild stab in the dark guess. They (midwives, ultrasound people, doctors) seem to be notoriously wrong about predicting weights judging by other posts! How can they tell at only 15 weeks??!

I was apparently heavier than my brother (I was second baby) but DD (2nd) was lighter than DS and she was 9 days overdue.

My first was 9lbs.

then my 2nd was 7lb 11.

so im the same as you, i was thinking the same thing.

Im 32 weeks though and feel huge ... and the last 2 times ive been measured ive been slightly bigger.

Im hoping they get smaller

Lol im hoping they get smaller also. At the mw yesterday she wasnt going by measurements of me or anything she was going though my notes and commented on the weight of my other dc and then went on to say that this one will prob be larger than the previous 2!! talk about being putting the fear of god in me!

agree with the curseofminniemummy - she has no idea.

When I was pregnant with DS1, I kept being told I had a big'un in there.

DS1 was 8lb 13oz - big enough but not out of the ordinary.
DS2 was 8lb 11oz
DS3 was 8lb 10oz

There's nothing you can do about it anyway - whether it's a 12 pounder or a skinny shrimp - so you might as well try not to worry about it

My second was smaller, but was born earlier. First was 7lb 6oz, second was 7lb 2oz but 4 days earlier so they may have ended up about the same.

My first (DS) was 8lb
My 2nd (DD) was 7lb

Also, a friend has just had hers, and was told all through the pregnancy that it was going to be a big baby. She was so worried.
Her DS was 7lb 2oz. Not what I'd call exceptionally big.

It's all a pile of pants isn't it??

With dd1, they thought she was going to be 9 pounds - she was 7 pounds 14. I had started thinking I should stop eating

DD2 was 6 pounds 11 - although 8 days early.

my first was 6 pounds 2
my second was 8 pounds 4
and my third was 9 pounds 3
so mine definately got bigger
not good lol !!!

Dd1 9lb 3 (11 days overdue)
Dd2 8lb 12 (3 days early)
Dd3 9lb 5.5 (8 days overdue)

So my third was my biggest ...but not by much

my first - 7lb 6oz
my second - 9lb 13oz

Definitely got bigger, didn't risk a third, not if they go up 2.5lbs each time!!

Mine got bigger too...

DD1 8lbs 6oz
DD2 9lbs 8oz

But I think it varies A LOT.

Me andmy bruv were exactly the same weight. My DS baby no 2 was 6ozs heaviet than my PFB DD.

DS1 7lb 5oz
DS2 7lb 11oz
DS3 7lb 6oz

DS1 was 11 days early
DS2 2 days early
DS3 nearly 3 weeks early

So DS1 and 3 could have been much bigger if they'd stuck around inside until closer to their due dates/

Mine where both exactly 8lb 6.
1st was 10 days late and 2nd was 1 week early so she probably would have been bigger

I was told my second was going to be massive so I sold all my newborn clothes!

DS1 was 7lb 8oz
DS2 was 7lb 7oz so no where near the 10lb they kept telling me!

DD 8lb 4oz
DS 8lb 4oz

Both 2 days early

Me 8lb 4oz so either genetic or coincidence

oh and apparently DS3 was going to be a "tiny baby" - ok 7lb 5oz isn't huge in the grand scheme of things, but for me (a petite 5fter) a pretty decent size, especially as he was 3 weeks early (mind you all 3 of mine made up for it in length all being around really long )

DS1 8lb 13oz (40+6)
DS2 10lb 11oz (39+6)

DS2 is broader and bigger built than DS1, had to have tests for diabetes etc.
I knew I was having a big baby though, you will be able to tell.

1st 7lb 11oz
2nd 7lb 6oz

1st was 13 days late, 2nd i have no idea as only knew about 6 weeks, though they did say 1st would be very small, under 6lb and had growth scans every 2 weeks and with my 2nd they told me he was going to be big and measuring 9lb on the scan and he was born a week later. They did say though that he was 'around' 3 weeks early by his appearence and he wasn't a late baby so i think he would have been bigger then my 1st.
