Mum2bean - have you had a sweep yet? I read above that you are 40 weeks now? That might help things along.
I went 10 days over with ds1 and 7 days over with dS2, I don't think I can face going over with this one, so I may start cranking up the EPO next week. I think I'll just stick to orally for the moment!
Apparantly I'm supposed to be doing perineal massage at least 4 times a week as well, what with that and the pelvic floor excercises, it's any wonder anybody who's pregnant get's anything done

mad4mybaby · 30/10/2008 14:55

hmm i dont know how it would disintergrate like it does in your tummy... Anyone care to expalin? Or do you have to fish them all out at the end of a week?

you get a squishy empty jelly capsule blob in your pants mad4 dont confuse it with a show!!!

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 15:08

no haven't had a sweep, seriously considering asking for one, as i have been in labour since sunday, or is it too late for that? i have had a show.....
mad4mybaby, i think it would be like having a thrush tablet internally! it would disentigrate, not sure though

mad4mybaby · 30/10/2008 15:12

eww! Oh well theres gonna be hell of a lot worse coming out!

OP posts:
mum2bean · 30/10/2008 15:17

at least we wont really be able to see what yucky stuff comes out!

mabel1973 · 30/10/2008 15:41

mum2bean once you go over they ususally offer you a sweep anyway, I am sure with DS1 I had a show, but still hadn't gone in to labour, I had 2 sweeps and the 2nd one worked the day before I was due to be induced. I think it gets the prostaglandins going, so might be worth a try, if you're anything like I was at the end i'd would literally try anything

hmm - not sure i like the sound of the squishy capsule, but I guess the nearer my due date I get the more likely I will be to want to give it a go....as you say, there will be much worse coming out!

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 15:51

mabel1973 i have tried EVERYTHING castor oil, sex(much to DP's protests) massage, herbal teas, oils/lotions, stairs, walking on pebbles, starjumps, housework, my DP even tried scaring me into full labour!
i am now off to tesco, for some reason baby goes mad whenever i am in there!, and to get some pineapple as i have heard that can help oh, and so i can continue my unfinished shelf tidying (terrible nesting instincts, tesco are definitely going to ban me!)

mabel1973 · 30/10/2008 16:02

I think you need vast quantities of pineapple for it to work, I tried it with DS1 and I hate pineapple. All it did was make the roof of my mouth sore. I didn't bother with DS2 and I won't be bothering this time!

hmm just trying to think of anything else for you to try....

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 16:05

any ideas would be great, as i know its wrong but i am so sick of waiting, they never tell you this can go on for this long, only after it has actually happened and your like duh, i know it can now!!!!

tinned or fresh, i'm going to look so weird with a trolley load of pineapple lol

mabel1973 · 30/10/2008 17:32

apparently tinned doesn't work, i guess the enzymes are destroyed in the canning process.
You will probably get lots of knowing looks from any women with kids, when they see you with your great big bump pushing your trolley full of pineapple!

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 18:52

i am currently sitting here eating pineapple like it is going out of fashion!!! drinking raspberry tea and unbeknowing to my partner(poor man) will pounce at some point in the evening!!! fingers crossed this combination will work lol

mad4mybaby · 30/10/2008 19:20

i believe its like 7 pineapples you have to eat to get the right amount of the thingy in it! Have you tried reflexology or accupuncture? I had reflexology at end of pg with ds1 and the last one i had i said (at 38 weeks) please just go for it and stimulate what you need to encourage labour and i went into labour that evening. Def helped me. Ive started it again and had one on tuesday but obv she is avoiding the areas for labour so i dont go in early! Basically it helps the cevix to soften/dilate which then obv encourages labour and if your cervix is already 'favourable' it will encourage labour to begin. May be worth ago if your still here tomo? Obv find one trained for pregnancy

is sex still advisable if you've lost your mucus plug ?

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 19:24

not too sure tbh, but we are going to use portection. but im not sure if i can be bothered to have it! might just leave it to the tea.

expatinscotland · 30/10/2008 19:25

i want this bairn OUT.

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 19:28

me too! i know they say the last few days/weeks are the longest, but this really takes the p**s

expatinscotland · 30/10/2008 19:30

he's due tomorrow.

his sisters were here already!

38+6 and 38+2.

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 19:35

mines due 2nd nov, but went into the early stages on sunday and have been waiting ever since, i think this means she will take after me, late for everything!
fingers crossed for tomorrow !

Flum · 30/10/2008 19:42

Ho hum. waiting here. couldn't get the caulyphilly wotsit from Boots or Holland & BArret. Got some Raspberry tea bags - too late for that I think. at 40+4

Declined sweep today at consultants, didn't fancy being mucked about with but had a bonk last night and this morning and the midwife said that was just as good if not better!!

Having a Jalfrezi tonight - bleurghhhhh.

Supposed to be hosting a drinks party for DH tomorrow night so no doubt will go into labour about 30 mins before that - perfect!

mad4mybaby · 30/10/2008 19:44

mum2bean, i think the point of the sex is the prostoglandin whatsit that is in the sperm? Therefore will defeat the object if you use a condom

OP posts:
mum2bean · 30/10/2008 19:48

a drinks party would definitely bring on labour! all of these other remedies dont work, but when your meant to be hosting an occasion or party, that would be the perfect 'inducer' if that is a word.

i feel a halloween party at mine coming on!

Flum · 30/10/2008 19:54

Would LOVE to get out of it as is a load of rackets players here for a tournament and I don't know any of them. Last year most of them diff crowd) stayed at our house but I have banned non family overnight guests from September til Christmas as I just can't be arsed to change the sheets.

mum2bean · 30/10/2008 20:07

mad4mybaby- thanks for that, i just assumed it was the 'invasion' that done it!
how embarrasing

flum- would be the perfect excuse, if not, just say your in labour, then blame BH instead, no one could/would argue really, some things about pregnancy really are great
i hate changing sheets as it is, so dont blame you for banning non family.
