cfc sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but mine hasnt worn off yet and im 20+4!! But as they say...everyone is different...and with a lot of people it wears off at between 12 and 14 weeks ish!

CatIsSleepy · 22/10/2008 13:44

should get better soon
am 19 weeks now and have felt a lot less tired the last 2 or 3 weeks
was sleeping quite badly-seem to be sleeping much better now and feeling relatively energetic

hang in there!

I realised this week that I was feeling almost human again - am 20 weeks. But looking back it has been getting better for a few weeks now, and the first trimester was the worst.

cfc · 22/10/2008 14:05

Thanks, that does give me hope! I think I really need to get some quality sleep. The thing is we've been up and down the country every weekend for the past month, so I've not had a weekend where I've done nothing..I think this is what I need!

... and then, of course, the tiredness returns. I am 37 + 5 weeks and have been sooooo sleepy and tired for a number of weeks now that I wonder how I will find the energy to get this baby out .

broodymom · 22/10/2008 15:06

I was like that as well i'm 14 weeks now and its started to fade i have some tired days but nothing like it was, at one point come 8pm i had to go to bed just could not keep my eyes open but im starting to feel a lot better now, hope you do soon! x

I am pg with #2 and the only thing getting me through the first trimester is the memory of feeling SOOOO much better by the time I was about 4 months pg. So don't worry. You should get your energy back, your bump won't be too big yet and people will know you are pg so treat you with more consideration! I am only 9 weeks right now and I am seriously tired and nauseous most of the time, but have to say it is easier to cope with it all this time around because I have the first experience of it all improving to remember!

The downside is that the last month (or 2) you may feel pretty tired again (although hopefully not sick!) because your body is lugging a large baby around inside of it!

Bluebutterfly · 22/10/2008 15:06

Oh and re the headache - make sure that you are drinking enough water!

hattyyellow · 22/10/2008 15:11

It does get better. Is this your first? I think if you already have children you don't get as much sleep/have more interrupted nights so the tiredness is made worse by that.

I have two DC already and although I'm weary I feel better now at 32 weeks than I did at 13 weeks in terms of exhaustion - I think your body adjusts to it.

countrylover · 22/10/2008 15:12

Sleep is definitely the key - I've had two nights of nine solid hours (well apart from wee breaks) and it's made such a difference.

Normally I can get by on seven or even six at a push but now it's got to be eight or more or there's hell to pay.

I'm nearly 15 weeks and most of the time still shattered though. However I was shattered all the time before getting pregnant (DS 3yrs explains all) so I'm not sure why I thought it would be any different now!

CS7 · 22/10/2008 16:20

I'm 17 weeks and since last week ahve been feeling really fresh and alert during the day. I'm still going to bed at 8:45 though but i'm very energised during the day. So hang in there ladies

16 weeks and feeling like a bag of crap.

Off work today as can't shake the headache that started Monday night. Agree with the drinking thing, but struggle as I teach and am very aware that I can't run along the many long corridors to the loo too often if I overdo the fluids.

Seem to think it went by about 17/18 weeks last time, and half term next week so can pee freely!
